Hiya Guy's :) . With the recent acquisition of my German proofed P228 & the fact that it also fit beautifully in my new iwb holster, I added it to my edc lust and quit carrying my Astra A-100 in 40 S&W. Well some firearms exchanged hands between friends on my local gun Grapevine ( imagine that?. Oh, wait, this is Idaho, duh :) ) anyhoo a friend who I've done a ton of business with that I've mentioned here numerous times before touched bases with me to show off his latest acquisitions, a cool Keltec bullpup & a Taurus 44 Mag.

Uh huh, you guessed it. He knows that mall ninja toys aren't my cup of tea but that 44 would pique my interest and that I load for it. I was wondering when I'd hear from him cuz he already had it listed on the local gun Grapevine for a 9 or similar. sure enough, I heard from him as soon as he got home with his new toys and he also let me know he already had someone offering him a Ruger Security 9 for the 44 and if I had something that would interest him more to hurry up and let him know. Of course he said that knowing I also have no interest in owning anyting striker-fired as I find the design flawed and I don't trust them.

I've also been decoying him myself lately just for fun occasionally mentioning my Astra knowing he'd reply with the usual, no no no I'm not interested in that thing and I originally got it from him anyway. Well I was interested in his 44 so I got the model number from him and did my usual research and that just increased my interest in adding it to my collection so I touched bases with him and told him I was interested in trading him my ask her for it especially if he did me a favor and picked up the factory ammo I had on hand to go with it. Needless to say, it was quite a surprise when he jumped all over it he jumped all over it. Then again that's also considering the last couple deals we've done I definitely done him right so he owed me one anyway. Long story short (uh huh, right .. ) we met up and he flipped me a Ben Franklin and this Purdy' big bore Taurus M44 4" 44 Mag followed me home :) ..

I give credit where credit is due and I'll admit that I haven't really been a fan of Taurus revolvers and most I've handled have felt a lil' "cheap" in hand so to speak , but over the last couple years I've noticed gradual improvements that I've liked. Needless to say the last Taurus revolver I recently had was a really nice stainless 4" Taurus tracker 357 and although I've never really been a fan of the 38 / 357 I really liked the quality of that revolver & if this 44 was as nice as the tracker I had no problem letting my Astra go to add it to my collection. As luck would have it I certainly wasn't disappointed, this large frame M44 is big, it's beefy, it's a hand Cannon & surprisingly if I can find a nice holster or two for it I should still be able to edc it w/o too much issue. The lock-up is nice and tight, the timing is spot-on and it has a fairly nice trigger and I'll leave it as is and it'll just smooth out a little more with use. On another note the barrel porting on either side of the front sight is rather intriguing and should keep muzzle flip to a minimum and I'm looking forward to trying a couple fferent loads I have worked up over H110 & Green Dot :) ...

I have the 6" and carry it while hunting or walking our hunting property. Holsters for Smith 29s also fit the Taurus 44, I usually use a shoulder rig with 2 speed loaders. They are fun to shoot and accurate.

Thanks guy's :) . I recently did a trade deal with a friend and let my 10.5" blackhawk 44 go for an 1893 Spanish M93 Mauser, so I see this as a more practical replacement for it. That and I wanted a nice double / single action 44 to pair w/ my traditional SAA interarms 44 :) ..

I had a blue 4 inch model 44 on my bucket list but lost interest when they discontinued the beautiful high polish blue finish. After looking at your stainless gun, I may need to take a second look.

I had its twin and in a fit of idiocy I traded it in as half of a the cost of a delta elite. The 44 was a hundred times the gun that the colt was. Enjoy, and don’t get rid of it.

Good looking revolver. I had a high-gloss blue M44 with a 4-inch barrel for a couple of years that, unfortunately, I sold before I got into reloading. Really wish I still had it. I know others have had problems with Taurus, but my specimen was a fine revolver. Yours is making me think I should see if I can find another one.

Yeppers , I like this a lot and if you like quality like I do you won't be disappointed :)

Ha ha, it's funny that you should post this picture because they have a pawn shop 5 minutes up the street from my house that has this actual gun that the Joker is pulling out of his pants in the movie on display for sale for a little less than $700
I would be very tempted by it. I like extraordinarily long barrels.

There were some older medium framed 44 specials... Model 431 and maybe one or two similar that I sure wish I had.

Now I have a hankering for the big one, too.
