Hi guys, now that hunting season is over I am able to shoot on my own little range again. I am pretty much the only one who ever uses it. Approx. 40 acre field with 500 yards of effective rifle range, 0-25+ yard handgun range using the same backstop, couple steel targets, nothing really fancy but I can accomodate you can shoot.

I have a limited selection of guns, .22LR semi auto rifle or handgun, SKS is always fun to bring out, couple .45ACP handguns, and so on. The tradeoff is that you bring badass guns and ammunition, let me shoot them and I let you shoot on my land free of charge :) semi-auto, full-auto, whatever you please as long as it's legal. It'd have to be on a weekend, Sundays are great. If there is any interest and this becomes something regular I'd be willing to build a decent size bench, 'till then we can shoot off of pickup trucks, prone or standing.

this gives you an idea of the terrain and the location, this is a small part of the field. nothing for 1.6 miles downrange. Located in Mercer County.

Hello Carter. Will you be my new best friend? :D

That's a great range you have. From your location, it looks like you're somewhere around GC. I usually pass by there when I go back to the Burgh.

I grew up in the North Hills, near North Hills HS. I live near State College now but all my family is still in Pittsburgh. I've taken my brother, who's a gun noob, shooting at the PGC range in Warrendale. I hate going there. That place sucks. An offer to shoot at someone's private 500 yd range isn't something one should turn down.

If you're serious about this offer, I'd love to come out and shoot with you sometime. I have some decent guns that we could spend a few hours making empty brass for. Maybe we'll have another mild winter and will be able to shoot sometime before spring. It looks like a huge field. Any way to shoot at 600 yd?

Drop me a PM if you want.

Sure, I'm not exactly turning down offers at this point. You are correct on the location, close to I80 exit 24.

600YD may be possible, I'll get some better pics of the field. It's about 800YD long but curves downhill at 300YD. Thus you have about 500YD from the top of the hill to the woodsline. One can shoot at 800YD but they can't see what they're aiming at or hitting without a spotter sitting way out of the way.

tempting

That's pretty tempting. Wooster's about 60-70 miles away, so my friends and I would have to make a weekend of it. You should consider organizing a barbecue and camp-out or something to get the further crowd in.

I'm all booked through Jan,

but maybe after that the Grendel and can pay you a visit. I have an Alexander Arms 24" upper on a DPMS upper with a jewled trigger and a 3-15 nightforce scope. she will print quarter sized groups @200 yds if I do my part, but i've been dying to stretch her legs with the new trigger. The only thing is that ammo is expensive. Even reloads are about $0.70 each, but
i do reload with premium componets.

If this is a standing offer, in june or july, my custom Damascus Caspian 1911 will be ready, and i want to give her a "baptism by fire". That means at least 1000 rounds. I'll also bring the old Sig229, and maybe my baby, a 1960 vintage 6"
Python.

Let me know if this is a "standing invite", and how much notice you require.

Thanks for the invite.

Fred

Pacer, definitely a possibility, don't want to commit to anything major yet. Just looking to do some weekend plinking right now.

DogBonz, I'd be honored to have guns like that on my little range! My $320 1911 and whatever homemade AR-15 I end up with will be jealous.

Just looked up you coordinates.

You're only about sixty miles fom me. I may have to PM you and set up a weekend to bring the AR, a bolt .308 and a few 1911 types to visit. You like black powder?

Western PA? 500 yards?

Hmmm...

It's 235 miles from me. Might be able to do it. If so, I'll bring an Imbel FAL, Bushie AR-15, .308 Ruger bolt action, and Serbu .50 BMG bolt action. Along with lotsa ammo.

Keep me in the loop.

1911 guy & Molon Labe, this Sunday 12/31 is open.

I might need to stock up on the 7/16 OSB for target backing, it won't last long with .50BMG hitting it ;)

This Sunday? News Year's Eve? Hmm. Doubt I'll be able to do that, carterbeauford. Perhaps a Saturday in January?

Probably committing a faux pas in terms of manners...

But have you considered hosting a THR get-together?
I mean, imagine the guns that you'd have that day...

I know one time, two of my friends and I put ALL of our guns on the living room floor, and took pictures. What a picture!

Imagine.... "The Guns of THR" on several picnic tables in your yard.

You could even make a coffee table book out of it.

But have you considered hosting a THR get-together?

are you.... attempting to bribe me? :scrutiny:

Of course, that's what I'm tryin' to do! THR members get together and shoot, and they let me fire a wide array of nice guns as a gratuity! Is there a difference between an formal, sanctioned THR get-together and this? Just looking to do something informal for now, but not ruling anything out for this summer.

Insensitive

carterbeauford,
The quote posted at the end of your messages is a tad insensitive to say the least.

You are welcome to take that up with the individual who originally said it ;)

Thanks for the bump, this Sunday is open guys.

TTT! been cold lately, no shooting, maybe we can get something together when it warms up. that damn groundhog better have been right otherwise we're gonna hunt him down :uhoh:

here's a slightly better view, if you can see the telephone pole barely visible on the left side of the picture, that's about 350 yards, the range continues for about 450 yards over the horizon of the hill.

All I have are hunting rifles, but maybe sometime if we can get some folks to show up Id make the trip to watch some people knock some stuff down and punch some holes. Ill even bring my own bib so I dont drool on my shirt or their pretty guns.
