I am thinking of buying a Taurus PT 745 (45 compact) for concelled carry. I already have a PT 945 (large frame) which I have loved for 10 years. I love Taurus' Unlimited life time warranty.

I can get the PT 745 for about $330 which it a lot less expensive than others. Opionions on this model please.

If you like it, go for it. Especially if you are thinking of using it for concealed carry, you'll already be familiar with it (having it's big bro for 10 years!):D

I have the PT145, which is the higher-capacity version of the PT745 (and is slightly thicker, but not much). I love mine, being a very compact .45 and easy to shoot and accurate. Only problem I've had is failure to fire (light primer strikes) with Wolf ammo I sometimes use for practice. Other ammo has been OK but other PT145 owners have also reported light strikes with certain ammo. I also considered the PT745 but decided the extra capacity made the PT145 a better gun for me.

I know the latest PT145s now have different sights and , I believe single/ double action, whereas mine is DAO only. I don't know if this change got added to the PT745.

I'm pretty sure the new ones are SA/DA by which i mean if the primer fails to ignite you get a second shot in DA mode. Massad Ayoob did a review of them in some magazine (not much help since he seems to have an article in every gun magazine constantly) and he seems to like em. If you want the magazine it has a small picture of the gun on the bottom and gives its name. No idea what title it is, but i think the magazines a light shade of yellow.

I have the DAO model Mil Pro PT-745S and it's been fine, zero problems. It's my summer carry for 2yrs now(when I don't carry the XD45 Compact).

i have a milpro 140 i love it the grip needs to be a tad bit thicker but thats just my opinion im used to my g26 but you cant go wrong with the taurus with the lifetime warranty

Did a little more research and I think I will go with the 145. I love the way it feels in my hand just wish I could teat one out.

You will find it an excellent weapon. My Millennium PT145, second generation DAO, is my primary carry weapon. I practice with my J frames so much, that when I pull out my Tauri .45 ACP, I just feel spoiled. 10 + 1 .45 ACP slugs out of a tiny, beautifully designed weapon, little recoil and highly accurate. I will tell you that it does not like Winchester White Box. The primers are too hard and it strikes lightly...sometimes FTF. Now...Corbon DPX or Speer Gold Dot I can fire box after box. Use good ammo and you will fall in love with this weapon. :D
