Looking for opinions on what is best AR15 in the 8-900 dollar range. Looking to add another. Right now debating between a Ruger 556, Springfield Saint and Sig m400 Tread. Which from these or what else would you get? I have already a POF Renegade+ and Spikes Tactical but not looking to spend quite as much this time. Shoot me ideas. Just looking for best factory off the shelf in that range right now. Don’t want to build one. Thanks

For what purpose? Target shooting, home defense, plinking, just because, truck gun?...

Personally, I am anti beautique AR15s, and IMHO the PSA and in spec less expensive ARs can fill the same roll as expensive ARs. You already have other ARs, Ruger’s CS is better than both Sig and Springfield, and the Ruger’s barrel is CHF. The Sig will have better and easier resale value based off of name recognition.

I just bought a new Smith and Wesson M&P 15 Tactical which had the $100 Rebate. It is really nice. Part # 11600
Smith has an updated Tactical now, longer rail. My model is the model J. Miculek used to set a world record. I got it for $790 OTD after rebate

Just because no special purpose other than have another to hand to someone when world falls apart

Also really liking the new PSA Sabre. That might be in lead now

This. AR parts are commodities. Go to any large gun show and pick out the parts that you want. Assembly is easy.
The only draw back of building is you can't send the rifle in for warranty on their dime should something go wrong, and Frankenstein ARs aren't that desirable when it comes to resale. That said, I still enjoy assembling my own.

For a shooter, I'd splurge on a chrome lined CHF barrel (military overrun or from FN via PSA), toolcraft BCG, non MIM upper and lower parts kits, LaRue Tactical MBT-2S trigger, Sprinco buffer spring, and then the rest of the components is just a matter of personal preference as IMHO it won't matter as much. You can have a quality go to war AR without having to pay the extra taxes and dealer markups.

Thought about building? Get to pick exactly what you want. Maybe $50 in tools that you can sell after the build, if you wish.
Punch set, mallet, vice, AR vice block, torque wrench, AR armors wrench, and antiseize grease for ARs, red loctite for the gas block, and that should be just about the bare minimum to last a few assemblies, but it's cost a little more than $50. Might want to pick up a no-go gauge too.

Those are main 2 reasons I don’t feel like building one plus just don’t have time to do. Seems like the PSA Sabre has a lot of good stuff I’m leaning towards that.

I have Colt, Armalite, S&W, and PSA guns, and truthfully, they have all worked and shot fine. The only AR Ive had that wasnt all that great a shooter, was a Bushmaster I had back in the 90's, but it too functioned fine.

While I would suggest buying a complete gun from one of the major makers, especially if it was a first time buy, I wouldnt get all caught up in the snobbery of the high dollar names. PSA's guns and uppers seem to work and shoot just fine, or at least mine have.

The other thing to consider as well is, is that $900 dollar range just for the gun? Because a $900 dollar gun in reality, is more like a $1500-2000 gun in reality, once you put some reasonable sights and accessories on it. And that's before you even touch on ammo.

Agree. I currently have a POF and a Spikes and have owned PSAs before. I have a lot of accessories and ammo already. Only thing I’ll need to get is some buis.

I really like my Sig M400 -- but they have a stupid handguard set up that puts front and rear sights on a different optical plane. So expect to spend another $200 for a replacement handguard with a unitary rail (Samson Manufacturing) if you buy the basic model.

If one were to buy a name-brand AR15 assembled already, and say had $1500 to spend, what's a good one with all the quality bells & whistles?

If you are wanting a rifle to hand off to someone and/or general plinking uses then anything from PSA will work. But nothing wrong with wanting something else either. Though you can get a complete PSA riffle cheaper.

I got a Ruger AR556 Freefloat for Yule. It is an inexpensive, no frills, decent rifle, but needs some swag. Put a Burris Red Dot, sling, fore grip, Rise Armament 3.5lb trigger and back-up irons on it and it's a joy to shoot. Had a couple of FTFeed early on but now it will feed from everything but one of my old Colt 20rd mags. If I could get a do over I would have gone with something a bit more refined.

The OP said he didn't want to build one. With that in mind I'll recommend the Smith M&P. I bought one of these in the optics ready version before the Sport became available. I don't run and gun, couldn't if I wanted to, but carried it for a coyote hunting gun and range toy. Sub MOA with my handloads and have never had a problem with it. I tweaked it with a free float hand guard that wasn't available on them at the time to get MOA .
