I have found an H&K USP Compact for sale. It is a 9MM. Seller is asking $750.

Condition appears to be in very good to excellent condition for a used piece.

What is the reputation of this model gun and H&K as a manufacturer?

Is price reasonable?

Thanks

price is about $100 too high

If you wait and watch they're out there for $600-$650.

Quality is good, excellent shooter, but make sure the ergonomics of the controls fit your hands.

I prefer them over Sigs, etc. because the safety/decocker, slide release, and mag release are intuitive to my hands.

YMMV

I just missed a full size 9mm stainless by a few minutes last night on anothe forum. $600 with two, 15rnd mags and $25 shipping.

Oh well, congrats to someone who was more vigilant than I.

The reputation of both are very good. I have a fullsize USP and it is extremely accurate. They are built like tanks. Most who have anything bad to say have never owned one. In the past customer service has been spotty according to some but they are improving I have been told.

The price is very high. 600 should be more your target price for a well cared for used 9mm USPC.

At that price I'd look for the newer HK 9mm the P30. For 733-750 shipped you can get a NIB P30 9mm from a couple of sources. There are more than a few used P30s on the market asking 725.

I have one in 45, and I love it... It has been 100 percent reliable, very accurate and it is easy for me to conceal. the price seems a little high, unless it is perfect.

i have two of them both .40 one with (bought used) and one without (bought new) night sights. i've never had a single malfunction with either one they will eat anything you put in them and imo are comfortable as a ccw. they are no more thick feeling or boxy than a glock, m&p. i paid $570 for my used one and it had some holster rash and a few scratches on the slide.

While his price is a tad on the high side the USP compact is a great gun. If he'll come down on the price and it fits your hand well I'd jump on it. Then again I own 6 HK pistols so I may be a bit biased. I routinely use a USP full size in 9mm, or .40 as my CCW. They are reliable, accurate and easy to shoot well. As previously stated they are overbuilt which is a good thing. Good luck.

For that price you might as well buy new, especially since if you do you will be covered by their lifetime warranty. Last I checked on gun broker you can get them at least $100 cheaper for something that's been lightly used . As for reputation the USP line is as reliable (if not moreso) than any other handgun currently offered and every bit as accurate. My off duty carry is a USPc in .40 and it's yet to have a failure. It conceals surprisingly well in even a small t-shirt when in a raven ACR, but something baggier is required for OWB hip carry. The only complaint I have is that for the NIB price (which is in the neighborhood of $750) the gun should probably have a better double action trigger pull. However, that only matters if you plan on using the D.A. pull (which I don't). People like to piss and moan about customer service, but the one experience I had with H&K CS was just fine (they covered me when my firing pin broke even though they didn't have to). Anyway, hope that helps.

A little off topic but what is a good price for a good condition USP 45 (fullsize)? BTW it has a light and 3 magazines.

I had a stainless one, sold it a couple of years ago for $550 so I think that price is high. Mine also had night sights on it.

If that one doesn't, expect to spend another $100 on night sights.
