So at the local fun shop today, I took in my 5" Kimber, and was looking at holsters for the thing. Primarily a winter-CCW piece, went in thinking OWB.....wound up looking at the Galco Summer Comfor IWB, Concealable (name for a holster, not the concept....with a CCW permit already, I'm familiar with the concept  ), and Combat master. All seem relatively appealing.....but I am having trouble deciding. The IWB bit definitely made the thing disappear....but I wonder how comfy any of them would be during a 5-hour drive in an old Jeep Cherokee (driving to school and back every so often). I have a J-frame for warm weather, but......hmmm..., that IWB did make it disappear real easy even in just a T-shirt.

Anyhow, thoughts on 'em?

Each of the three holsters you mention in your post are excellent holsters and will serve you quite well. Of course, the big problem with any gun/holster combo is that it is such a personal and individualistic choice. That often requires some experimentation to get it "just right" for you and, more often than not, you might not get it right the first time. However, any gun/holster combo will, with experimentation, find that "sweet spot" at your waist.

Since you mention concealing a 1911 pistol let me compound your problems by suggesting yet another Galco holster, the Royal Guard.

I have used this particular holster for about 10 years to carry my 1911 and I find it just excellent. Note the pic is of a 1911 in Condition 1 and I think that says a lot about the combination. Good luck!

I have a Summer Comfort and it is not very comfortable on longer drives, at least for me. OK for around town.

I have a Milt Sparks Axiom on order that I am anxiously waiting for. Will probably arrive around Christmas. Looks like it will be relatively easy to take on and off and rides about where I like it. Nice holsters if you can stand the six month wait.

I have 2 Galco Royal Guard IWB holsters. The Royal guard is the horsehide version of the summer comfort. Very good quality holsters. I have one for a 5" 1911, and one for a Glock 30.
