I am looking at adding another VZ58 to the collection. Does anyone own one of the VZ58s from R Guns? It looks to be a D Tecknic (sp?) gun with a saw grip, black foregrip, folding stock and a muzzle brake(no lug). Anyone familiar with this version of the VZ58?

CCB, do yourself a favor and find the lowest price.

They're the same guns being sold by Czechpoint and other vendors (there is only one importer of the D-Technik Czech Vz58s)

Their customer service and shipping costs leave much to be desired, imho.

I was thinking price, but when you add in the cost of adding a brake and then refinishing the rifle you are back up to there asking price. Then there is the small cost of the saw pistol grip....

Anyone else sell a VZ set up the same or close?

The standard military version shoots just as straight.

If you want gun bling, you will pay for gun bling.

Just that simple.

Unless you are a serious gun technician,

In which case all the normal rules go right out the door......

Century Arms also assembled a cheaper VZ 58 that has the bayo lug, new barrel and FS. R Guns I believe carry these. The bad ones have already been recalled,

Does R Guns have a walk in store?

Also does anyone know anything about the quality of R Guns AR-15 lowers?

Nalioth, The Century guns have the same backwards safties that Ohio Ordnance Works has. I wonder if they are making the revieer for them.

How many places in the US are making a VZ58 reciever. I can think of only 2. ORF and OOW. Are there any others?

The safety selection is a function of the safety installed in the rifle, not the receiver used. I switched out my Century-made safety for a Czechpoint safety, and now the rifle fires in both the forward and rear positions, as it should (the Czechpoint rifles are physically capable of firing in both positions, but they're blocked from the rear position by a pin which protrudes out the right side of the receiver).

Century themselves claims that the receivers are made by a local machine shop, although whether that's true or not is difficult to determine...I suppose theoretically one could check to see if there are any Type 7 FFLs in the same town as Century.
