Opinions on various .22 rifles

I presently have a Winchester Model 72 bolt action 22 rifle. This is a great vintage rifle. I've been thinking about a Ruger 10/22 purchase, for a semi auto 22 rifle. I know you can buy this rifle at Wal-Mart. What should I expect to pay for this rifle? Any opinions on other 22 rifles for around $200. I can't recall but I saw in the past as a Military training type of 22, it was reasonably price and received decent reviews. It was from either Europe or Comunist Block countries. Thanks!

In that price range you can find some Savage .22s, which are hard to beat with Accutrigger.

I am not a ruger basher; I had a very good one at one time. However, except for maybe mossy, every other semi auto made, for whatever price, will either be better made, better finish, more accurate, more reliable, or have a better trigger. the marlins and the savages both will fill the bill better, and right now, ou can get a marlin 795 on sale for 100 to 120 bucks, then download the marlin 20 dollar rebate off the ' net. this means, you could get one, possibly, with tax included, for just under 100 bucks--- for a new rifle, this will never be seen again, in our lifetimes. A new semiauto rifle for under 100 bucks.

I like the marlin. It does the job well and is not to costly. I have shot a model 69 (similar to your 72) and love it, the marlin would be a good addition. The question is are you going to shoot your .22 repeater or slap aftermarket parts on it. If your just looking for a shooter, the marlin wont let you down.

Where can I find the coupon? Thanks everybody for your input. I pretty much have my small arsenal complete, keeping it to 7.62X39mm, 9mm, 12 ga, .22, ammo stash of 1200-1500 rnds of each, except shotgun shells. These are my weapons
1 Norinco SKS
1 Norinco Mak 90
1 Norinco 9mm Tokarev
1 Hi-Point 9mm Carbine
1 Remington 12 ga. Police Issue
1 Winchester Model 72 22 rifle

Now whether to purchase another 22 rifle or pistol? No aftermarket stuff except a KVAR composite stock for the MAK 90. I don't need but sure would like to have a AK Draco pistol.
