Yeah Standing Wolf, you're right that the golden age of High Standard ended in the 1970's which is about the time I bought my first Victor. The triggers on High Standards will spoil you if you are used to factory production guns of modern vintage. Closest current factory production gun is the SW Model 41.

I view the Golden Age of 22's as being between about 1960 and 1980 or so. It was definitely a post-war thing. The end corresponds to about the time High Standard went bankrupt in 1984 and Colt stopped manufacturing the Diamondback revolver in 1986. Those were good days as there were so many really fine 22's available. Smith made the fine K-22 during those days. There was a 22 available for any budget.
