Optics Combo for my AR

I am looking for some feedback and help on an optics combo for the AR I plan to buy.

I had originally just planned on buying a red dot reflex sight as I hadn't planned on shooting the gun at more than 25-30 yards. But after reading more reviews on the M&P 15-22 by Smith & Wesson, which is what I will most likely start out with, it seems the gun is fun to shoot at longer distances as well. So maybe I want something with a little zoom as well.

So I have seen in movies, video games, and pictures on the internet, optic combos installed on the rails that will fold over so you can use one or the other. So you might have a reflex optic on the front and a 2x zoom optic on the back. And you just fold one over and bring the other up or vice versa. However I can't seem to find one in a store that does this so maybe it's just a fictional thing. But if it does exist, I don't know what to call it.

Second, if they do exist, how does the 2x scope maintain it's integrity once you sight it in when it's not fixed like a traditional scope?

If this combo/functionality does not exist, does anyone have any good suggestions for a reasonable reflex sight (around $50-60) with red dot?

Another option is what we (British Army) use, an ACOG x4 with a red dot mounted on top, our guys love it!

This is a moveable magnifier mount. Maybe the best one out there:

It holds an Aimpoint magnifier behind a 1x Aimpoint. The magnifier is only a looking glass, not a scope, it has no crosshairs or anything, just a super expensive magnifying glass. It has no effect on your Aimpoints zero.

You may also be interested in a Trijicon 1-4x Accupoint. Larue has mount and optic combos for a ton of mil spec applications.

What is your budget?

The above products are great, but if you cant afford that try Primary Arms. They have nice affordable red dots with flip over magnifiers.

other options are 1-3x, 1-4x, scopes. I have a 1-3x weaver that i love. Mount and all cost me less than $250. Primary Arms has a 1-4x scope and mount. Other popular 1-4x scopes are Leupold, Burris, Nikon, etc.

Oh they exist all right. Aimpoint makes a nice 3x magnifier for their reddot, and theres a varity of Flip-To-Side mounts for it. I'm pretty sure EOTech makes one too.

The downside is an aimpoint, magnifier, and mounts will cost several times what the 15-22 did.

You might check Primary Arms, they have lower cost choices but even then you're looking at $150 for the magnifier and mount, plus some money for the red dot. Or (and I'll probably get flamed for this) check an Airsoft supply store.

Forget the red-dot, magnifier & multiple sights.

Just put a low power variable scope on it.

You can buy a real good one for 1/4 what all that other stuff of the same quality will end up costing you.
