When I have mounted a mount to such a gun, I used a bit of JB Weld or PC-7 Epoxy between the mount and the gun.
Both of these epoxies, as far as I know, can be heated after curing, with a simple heat gun to a couple of hundred degrees and they become like chewing gum, i.e., the base will come right off.
Of course,as with anything that has been "glued," there will be some epoxy residue to deal with!
However I would rather go that route and be sure my scope stays put than to just screw the mount and "hope it stays" -- I don't want my optics to fail me when I might have taken a shot at "the buck of a lifetime" and missed and he needs one more shot, however, the scope is now on the ground behind me (or is now a permanant fixture in my face).
