The TRS 25 is a good inexpensive RDS.

The general approach is to either go self defense or plinker with RDS'. If self defense, then go big with the $500+ aimpoints, eotechs, etc.

If plinker, then it's whatever floats your boat. For $69, the TRS 25 is sufficient for a plinker.

Id go with the vortex strikefire. There good reliable sights. Only disadvantage when compared to my aimpoints is battery life. But none of the sights you mentioned hold a candle to an aimpoint in that reguard.

If I go with a Eotech as allaroundhunter suggests I need
to know if an Eotech that his been mounted on a shotgun
would have been damaged?
I know of one for sale but didn't know if it could be messed
up inside because of shooting slugs
What do you think?
thank you

I have a Bushnell TRS-25 and an EOTech 517. The 517 is merely a 7mm higher 512.

I have used the TRS on a rifle and a handgun. It makes for a great fun plinker and will even do very well for handgun target shooting.

The EOTech more limited to AR height mounting systems, where something like that Bushnell can go low or high depending on the mounting bracket.

One area the EOTech flat spanks any inexpensive red dot like that Bushnell is the range of brightness. The EOTech can be turned down so low that you can see it in a near total dark room without it messing up your natural night vision of your eye. On the other end, the EOTech will turn up to retina searing brightness so you can use it in very bright light.

Both sights have been useful to me for different reasons. :)

The EOTechs are in a different league.

Between the TRS-25 and the Vortex, even thought the TRS-25 is very highly rated:

and is available with an AR-height riser:

I would go with the Vortex StrikeFire II:

because of Vortex's warranty:

I have two EOTechs, a 510 and an EXPS2-2. The EOTechs have a 1 MOA center dot - it will subtend, or obscure less of what you are aiming at than a larger dot. The EOTech is a holographic sight - the reticle appears to hang out in front of you... some people have issues withe the reticle seeming pixelated, but I love mine.

I have a Vortex SPARC on my 9MM SBR. I didn't want to spend a bunch of cash like my EoTechs and Aimpoints. It comes with EVERYTHING including a 2X magnifier. I also like that its got an auto off feature UNLIKE the EoTech and Aimpoint.

I liked it so much I just put another one on my AK SBR. I am curious how it will hold its zero to the "brutal" 7.62x39 M92 PAP pistol with a shoulderstock. We shall see.

I need to know if an Eotech that his been mounted on a shotgun would have been damaged?
The EoTech 5xx series are known to have long term durability problems because the batteries are mounted in line with the recoil axis. Because of this the batteries slam into the battery contacts. This is almost certainly why the EoTech XPS was designed with a horizontally mounted battery. I personally wouldn't touch a used EoTech 5xx series sight that had seen any use on a shotgun. I'd look for an EoTech XPS or any Aimpoint.

I also like that its got an auto off feature UNLIKE the EoTech and Aimpoint.
Aimpoints run 4 to 8 years continuously on a single battery. They don't need an auto off feature. You leave an Aimpoint on and change the battery every leap year.
