Optimal bullet weight for M1A Socom 16

I have a M1A Socom 16 and have been looking for the optimum round for it. From what I have seen, a 1:10 twist rate would be ideal for heavier bullets, but with the 16" barrel losing so much velocity, I thought that it may not handle a heavier bullet as well as a longer barreled version. It seems to me that a lighter round, like 150-170gr would be better for compensating for that loss in velocity. What do you guys think?

A 1:10 twist rate will let you shoot the popular medium weight bullets without issue.

Velocity loss aside, you'll need to shoot various weights and manufactures of bullets to see what is the optimum for your rifle.

I have shot 147,150 and 168 gr match bullets in my handloads.no problems
