Ordered a Pico today for my bday

I've been looking at pocket pistols for awhile and decided to treat myself for my bday and ordered a Beretta Pico!

Congrats on your Pico purchase.

I was on the fence for a long time about whether or not I wanted one after handling the first version, and finally bought one a few weeks ago. The only issues I've had with it were when feeding the first round from the mag. Unless I made sure to rack the slide with authority, and release it at the rear-most point, that first round had a tendency to bump up against the feed ramp and stop. Although the stoppages were mostly my fault, I decided to polish the feed ramp, along with the extractor and magazine feed lips. Now it'll feed rounds without a hitch, regardless of how I release the slide. I can even intentionally ride the slide slowly forward until the nose of the bullet is up against the feed ramp and it still feeds reliably. Fired over 400 rounds now. and am more impressed with each range visit.

My Pico required about 100 rounds before it wouldn’t limp wrist. Mind you, I was intentionally trying to make it limp wrist, just to find out how susceptible it was. After 100 rounds I couldn’t get it to limp wrist no matter how hard I tried. When I changed the recoil spring it required about 100 rounds again. It’s been a surprisingly reliable gun, even when fairly dirty.

I can echo the previous comments on the initial 100 round break-in period. After that point, 100% reliable and is now my CCW; it's just too easy to slip in a pocket and go.

Personally I truly believe that racking the slide and letting the recoil spring take a "Set" will solve the break in period. Same with the magazines. I load mine up to full capacity and let them also take a "Set". All I can say is it has always worked for me. I have a dozen magazines for the Pico and both guns run like champs. Beretta Mags are high quality they are strong, especially when new. JMO

I don’t have the patience to wait. I head straight to the range with a new gun.

I tested the XS Big Dot sights yesterday and today. I’m not sure what to make of them. I think I would prefer it if the front sight wasn’t a big dot and was standard size. When shooting quickly I found myself shooting low because the dot is huge and needs to be fully above the rear sight. I shot about 100 rounds yesterday with just the big dot, and today I shot 300 rounds alternating between the big dot and standard 3 dot night sights.

The truth is, I just can’t shoot this gun as accurately as a snub nose revolver, particularly when shooting quickly. The accuracy (in my hands) is acceptable for a small pocket gun, just not where I wish I was with it. As has been typical, it ran without issues even given the round count without cleaning. At about 200 rounds I ran a q tip along the rails and relubricated.
