A few years ago I bought a couple of thousand 223 "pulldown" bullets. Too long ago to remember where I got them. Today I decided to test a new load. Did all of the brass prep, priming etc. and all looked good. Checked the brass in the Lyman case gauge and all was fine. Loaded the bullets and did a factory crimp and many of them were a "no go" in the gauge. I started checking everything and found some of the bullets to be out of round........please look at the pics. I wonder if I pull the deprimer out of the sizing die al lube the bullets can I squeeze them back to round.. Any ideas? 20220406_140806.jpg 20220406_140752.jpg 20220406_141119.jpg

Wow that’s a bunch out of round.

My guess is, ain’t much you can do about it.

If you can get them to load acceptably they may shoot good enough to satisfy though. I wouldn’t give up before testing.

that's the next step....for what I'm testing (primers) I just need them to chamber, go bang and eject

I have the same issue with some 30 cal. M2 bullets. You can use the Lee classic sizing kit with jacketed bullets, but you need to lube the bullets. You can get the 22 cal one here in stock: https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item/0000690049/classic-bullet-sizing-kit-point224-diameter

Lots of info on the net from reloaders using them for jacketed bullets. It will size the bullets back to .224".

Next time I order from Midsouth, I'll probably buy one in .30 cal. They're only $20.00.

They work great. I have one in .427” for resizing .429” .44Spl/Mag bullets down for .44-40. No problem squeezing them down on the Lee hand press. Good workout.

can you use case lube - Hornandy spray on jacked bullets?

I would think that would work, but I don't know. You would have to try it. I wouldn't think it would take lot of ram pressure for a 22 cal. bullet that just needs a little straightening out. You're not going from 22 cal to 20 cal.

You have a lot of those bullets. I believe it would be worth it to get the sizer.

Thats what I was thinking too. There is enough of them to make it worthwhile.

I had some bullets from Armscor awhile back that measured at .223, and while they were round, they shot patterns at a 100
I ended up giving them to a friend who used them up for 3 gun matches
