Just moved to AL from a nazi-run state.
It's great to actually see gunshops and signs for 'em :)

Please recommend some nice outdoor ranges. Mostly for pistol.
Thanks.

Swann Creek off of rt. 31 just north of Calhoun College. It's an outdoor range. There are no ROs. Buying a hunting license is required (there's another but I forget what it is).

Ditto Swann Creek. GREAT public range. I've been there countless times while growing up in Huntsville, AL. There is another 500 yd. outdoor range in Cullman, AL that was worth driving to. It was named Maple Ridge Gun Club. That was an excellent establishment and I can't say enough about the outstanding customer service and friendly people.

Stop in at Larry's on North Parkway in Huntsville and see if they have info for the Blue and Gray club ( think I have the name right). They are out near Guntersville Dam, IIRC. Also there is a club in Arab, just South of Huntsville. Arab Practical Shooting Assn, I believe. Larry's has a pretty good indoor range for bad weather days. Welcome to God's country :D.

Just remembered there is a range at Sharon Johnston park out towards New Market. They have a club and run some matches on occasion, or used to. It has been several years since I lived in Huntsville, thank God, and I'm not sure if they are still there.

I stopped by Larry's today. VERY NICE selection.
Coming from one of the two states where there's no CCW,
and a town with zero (0, nada, zilch) public shooting ranges
in the entire county, I'm not used to such nice candy stores.

I will have to go check out Swann Creek, as I prefer outdoors,
but according to the info I got, they require the Alabama hunting
license, which I cannot obtain since I haven't been here 90days.

Same with CCW, which I read some where that I need to be a
resident 6 months in Madison county. bah.
