Does anyone know of any good places to shoot that are less than 2 hours away from Portland OR? We have a lot of good mountains and quarries that I like going to when I have enough time and people to make the trip worthwhile, but I'm tired of spending 5 hours in the car (round trip) just to be able to shoot my rifles and use my own ammo.
I know that Tri-County Gun Club is just down in Tualatin, but you have to join the NRA to become a member and that's something I'd like to aviod (my name is on enough lists as it is). For indoor stuff I like going to PSTC at the Clackamas Sheriff's spot, but I hate the "clean-fire" ammo that you have to use there.
So if anyone knows of a good outdoor place to shoot (it can be a range, but I'd just prefer nature) that's closer than 2 hours from PDX, let me know. Also if you do know of a good place and would like to schedule a trip sometime in August to meet, and shoot then send me a private message and we'll get planning.
(If you're going to suggest the quarry out off Memaloose road I think they've closed this road off, and I was looking for something closer than that anyway).
