I have a glock 48 that I’m looking to find a owb holster for. I carry now iwb at the 3 o’clock position. I’m looking to find a holster that is very low profile because I want to keep it concealed under a jacket or flannel shirt. I don’t want anything that’s big or bulky that will be hard to keep concealed. I’ve done some research and seen paddle style holsters and then some have pancake style belt loops. I’ve never carried owb before this is new to me so what does everyone else use? What’s the most comfortable way? I’m sure the good folks here at THR can help! Thanks in advance!

I would typically not choose a "paddle" holster as most are the definition of "big and bulky" simply because of the mechanism involved in most paddle attachments don't keep the gun close to the body.

A couple of paddle holsters that may work are the Panther Concealment OWB (they show the G48) https://www.pantherconcealment.com/owb-holsters.html

and RM Holsters (THR member GunnyUSMC has a picture or two of a G48 in an RM Extreme Cant Paddle holster on the forum). Their website has been in transition for about a year, so you probably need to call them to check for availability. https://www.rmholsters.com/

Here is a @GunnyUSMC thread with an RM Extreme Cant Paddle Holster with a G48 https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/picked-up-two-more-rm-kydex-holsters.870991/

The Aholster Belt Holster is available for the G48. That holster should keep the gun very close to the body. They have a Black Friday sale going on until Monday. https://aholster.com/

RCS Gear has the Perun available for the G48 https://rcsgear.com/perun-strongside-owb-holster
- If I didn't have an OWB holster for a Glock, this would probably be my first stop, as they are a quality maker, the design is good, and they are fairly inexpensive. A good way to start off to see what you like.

I have a Dale Fricke Gideon Elite for a 1911 that works pretty well and is available for the G48 https://dalefrickeholsters.com/product/gideon-elite-holster/

I also have good stuff from JM Custom Kydex and either their OWB 1 or OWB 2 should be good https://www.jmcustomkydex.com/

I have (2) Tucker HF1 holsters. These are very comfortable and the gun rides high and tight.

I have 3 drawers full of holsters and don't have any glock 48. I like a Kathy flap holster for my big guns. I use a Bianchi cyclone for revolvers normally

I like the don hume holsters. They make them for lots of different pistols, both revolver and autos. Good prices and fast shipping. They have a sale going on now. Or you can go with one of the kaydex holsters. This one is very comfortable. Made by a local shop called freedom holsters. PXL_20231117_221031760.jpg

What's your body type? Makes a huge difference. Holsters that work great for me (6'1", 185 lbs., athletic build) may not work well at all for someone who is fat or who is extremely thin, especially when we start talking about trying to conceal them.

Nothing against Kydex holsters (or knife sheaths) but I have tried a few and this is my view on Kydex. It is rougher on gun and knife finishes than leather. Leather is a lot softer than Kydex. Not such a big deal on OWB holsters but for IWB holsters that precious little softness is a big deal on IWB wear.

100 percent agree with you about IWB holsters and kydex. I would never wear one. Just to uncomfortable. OWB kydex holsters are comfortable enough for daily wear. I have and use both kydex and leather. Prefer leather.

I’m 6’1” 170. I never thought of that but I can see where body size would be a factor.

The RCS holster looks nice

Check out the fine fellas at Alabama Holster: alabamaholster.com
I have a few of their kydex holsters and the fit and quality are top notch. It’s a mom-and-pop run business.
I’ll definitely look into this company. So far the rcs and the Alabama holster looks like what I’m looking for!

I ordered a raven concealment perun today. When it comes in I’ll give an update. It seemed to match everything I was looking for!
Yes, please do. We get lots of questions about miscellaneous gun gear, so reviews are always helpful!

I have 3 or 4 OWB holsters from Tucker Gun Leather. They make a great holster.
I intended to order another one for my Sig P365.
Knowing it would take +/-6 weeks to get, I bought a Don Hume H710 for $40.
Great holster, I use it every day.

I'm 6'2", but about 190#... I carry my Kahr CW9 in a High Noon Holster... a Slide Guard. It's the one OWB holster that I found that seems to suck the pistol up next to my body, and carries it fairly high on my belt. I liked it so much, I bought them for my 1911's, and just last week, my new SA-35 HiPower...

ETA: Because I'm tall and (relatively) skinny, I use the small amount of flexibility this style holster allows. I run my belt through the rear holster loop, through my pants loop at 3 O'Clock, and then through the front holster loop. That allows me to move the holster around a little as needs dictate. Sitting in the truck, I slide it forward... so it's not jabbing me in the back, or makes my torso twist when setting. Getting out of the truck, I can shove it back in the loop so it fits more into the corner of my back... not the small of the back... but it's back enough that it doesn't stick out noticeably under a shirt. This also works really well with a large frame pistol like my 1911... where the full size grip would poke out if it was worn directly at 3 O'Clock... pushing it back to 4 O'Clock on my belt makes the butt print less. If I'm going somewhere sketchy, I slide it back forward again, so it's a little more ready-at-hand. A rigid belt helps, here, too... because the holster has to be held tight. A flimsy belt will allow the holster to flop around, or if you have a bit of resistance on draw, you may have to fight the belt to get it out... I learned my lessons there, too.

Holster came in and the quality is superb! The finish and fit is super good. Retention is very snug and I like the adjustability. Came with the 10 degree cant belt loops already installed. I’ll give a more up to date review after I’ve worn it for a while. Just wanted to share my first initial thoughts.

A high ride pancake style holster with FBI cant is hard to beat for concealment, when speaking strong side OWB carry. If you are really carrying at 3 o'clock, consider moving your holster just behind your pelvic bone as the gun will blend in to your body better, without sacrificing accessibility.

DeSantis Speed Scabbard. I've been using them for almost 40 years. I have one for every gun I carry. You can get it with or without a strap. I prefer the no strap, open top. Still very secure and tight to the body.
