I'm interested in some feedback in a good self defense round for a Glock 30. I am particularly interested in the Proload Gold Dot 200gr +P JHP and the Remington Golden Saber 185gr +P JHP. I have found the following info from the manufacturer's web site and from http://www.firearmstactical.com/briefs.htm.

Average: Velocity(fps), Penetration(.in), Expansion

963, 13.2, .67 for Proload GD 200 +P
1033, 13.9, .68 for Remington GS 185 +P

Manufacture's info: Velocity(fps), Energy(ft-lbs)

1030, 471 for Proload GD 200 +P
1140, 534 for Remington GS 185 +P

From the information above it would appear that the Remington GS 185 +P would have more recoil? What does the extra muzzle velocity of the Remington buy you over the Proload, given that the penetration and expansion are about the same?

Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi Digex2;

FWIW, my G30s like the ProLoad 200gr+P JHP best in terms of accuacy-precision, and it has almost no muzzle flash.

The Rem GS 185gr+P JHP has significant muzzle blast and flash, and isn't quite as accuate-precise in MY G30s.
YMMV.

I've shot almost all the available .45ACP loads in my two G30s and one G36, from 165gr to 230gr, regular and "+P", and the ProLoad 200gr+P is what gets carried in 'em.

Best.

Curious what you give for a box of the ProLoad. Found a place here "clearing them out" for $9.95/20 rounds. Is that any deal? It's about 1/2 what I paid for the HydraShoks.
