P32 ammo quest

You want the hottest, heaviest bullet FMJ you can find. I am partial to Prvi and RWS. Prvi also makes a 72 grain JHP that I load into the chamber and put at the mag top. Any JHP lower than the top round and you risk "Rim Lock". I have experienced it a few times with mags full of JHP, but NEVER with FMJ.
From what I've read, Prvi is loaded pretty weak and many people complain about its reliability. Where do you get RWS ammo, if you don't mind me asking? That's the one I'm after.

im just getting comfortable with the reliability on my 1st gen p32 to throw it in the pocket soon. mine is very ammo finnicky, does not like S&B at all. i tried fiocchi at it loved it, both jhp and fmj so thats what im stocked up on. i plan to run the first 2 rounds jhp and the rest fmj to avoid any potential rimlock issues.

Well, I called RWS-USA and asked where I can find their 32 ACP ammo. The lady told me they didn't get it out to many retailers yet and promised to call me back with info. Still waiting for the call since this morning.

In the mean time, I'm ordering Fiocchi for $11/box from SOG. Thanks again for the link.

Don't forget to do a "fluff and buff" on your gun when you finally take it home. You'll find instructions at KTOG.org.

I also painted the silly triangle front sight with some Testors "caution" yellow paint. Makes it a whole lot easier to see in dim light.

I suggest Winchester USA Q4255 71gr flat-nose FMJ (if they feed reliably in your P32). The flat nose crushes a larger diameter of tissues as the bullet penetrates than a round-nose FMJ.

I wouldn't bother using JHP ammo as the bullets, IF they expand, will not penetrate deeply enough to reliably reach and damage vitals.

I also wouldn't bother with Buffalo Bore ammo as the increased recoil is unnecessary and the slightly higher velocity doesn't offset the recoil penalty.

If Q4255 doesn't feed reliably in your pistol then I suggest any FMJ-RN load over any JHP load. FMJ will reliably penetrate. JHP offers erratic & unreliable penetration performance.

Good luck!

Have 3 P-32 in house All have the HP shim. All for carry and SD use the Corbon JHP I haven't tested the DPX I have spare mag to shoot ball. That junk Winchester with the flat nose is same OAL as a HP I did experience rim lock with it.
If you want to use HP but not mod the mag. Then load 1 HP in chamber and 2nd up a HP rest in mag ball This prevents rim lock and gives you 2 HP then Ball ammo.
I carried the 32 then better 1/2 took I bought the 380 and have now went to the PF-9 My daughters each have a P-32 now. They can shoot bigger pistols but they all like the 32 better.

Use S&B for practice or if desire to carry ball.

I use the Winchester "white box" ammo Shawn suggests above. However, it is not immune to rimlock; I did have one instance of rimlock when breaking in the gun. I have since installed Kel-Tec's rimlock-preventer "flyer-wire" in the magazine.
My P-32 is not my primary-carry gun, but may one day become so. For now, the only time it is carried as an "only" is on my to and from my "gun-free" place of employment. At most other times, it is carried along with my PF-9.

P32 ammo quest

This is what's in mine.

Buffalo Bore (hottest around) in the pipe. Fiocchi 73gr FMJ (probably the 2nd hottest around) in the mag. Best of both worlds without having to worry about rimlock, IMO.

I've got nothing against hot rounds like Buffalo Bore, but the .32ACP will always be a tiny bullet coming out of a 2.5" barrel.

Personally, I'd buy more bullets like the Win. White Box and practice with them more often rather than buy something that is only 4 grains heavier and nominally 110fps faster. (I just looked-up 4 grains, it is 0.009142857 ounces. You really think that increase to lead mass will add anything to stopping potential?)

I feel that regular practice would make more of a difference. This is true with any caliber handgun. It isn't the "gear", it's the Operator.

I agree. Any handgun is a compromise, so to me the only handgun cartridge that I can count on to stop an attack with one shot, is to the heart or brain. I would much prefer to use a 12 gage pump for self defense, but they are too bulky so I carry a small pistol always, and add to that routine as weather and clothing allow.

right, see I find the .32 to be a good compromise in extreme weight, size and shootability.

Yes, I've tried a .380
wasn't nearly as pleasent
