I have a Sig P320sc that I bought last November. Since then I have put close to 5,000 rounds through it. As all springs wear out eventually when do you think I should replace the springs in my gun? Especially the striker spring and the recoil springs.

Thanks

JJ

P.S. Forgot to add. I shoot IDPA with it and it is my EDC.

I'm not really sure, but I doubt it's a bad idea to replace the springs at a regular interval.

I would guess it could go well over 5k, but that's not a bad preventative round count. I replace 92fs springs at 3k. I don't have but a few hundred through my 320, but I plan on replacing them around 5k. Springs are cheap.

The 320 is the best shooting striker fired gun I have ever owned. Slightly over my fns and way better than my Glocks. SIG got the 320 right, for sure.

A gentleman who completed a 320 armorers course and posted on one of the Sig forums states that the recoil spring on a full sized 320 should be replaced at 10,000 round intervals.

I'm in the"if it ain't broke, don't fix it" camp. When the spring gets weak you'll start getting failures to return to battery and a little tap on the back of the slide will let it complete. If it'll make you feel better and be more confident, then replace it whenever you feel like it, recoil springs are pretty cheap.

As to the all springs wear out eventually, when was the last time you replaced the valve springs in your car? Its a matter of design and expected service life. The gun spring I've needed to replace most often has been the striker spring in my Kahr CW9 -- its on its third one recently after about 6000 rounds, when I start getting failures to fire I change it.

I'd start with Sig recommendations. Does the owners manual mention spring replacement intervals? Many do. I am sure Sig customer service has recommendations as well.

From the Armorer's Manual: Recoils spring Full size 10,000 rounds; Carry, Compact and Sub-compact 5000 rounds.
Extractor spring, extractor, striker assembly, and takedown lever every 20,000 rounds. Slide catch lever, slide catch lever spring and post, every 10,000. rounds. Trigger bar spring every 10,000 rounds.
