If you buy the upper and lower separately they can be had for under $500 for the one with FSB. A little more for the railed version. Really good pricing

I have my hands full now. But if pricing continues like that, I wouldn't mind picking one up, just because. :)

I just sold my fancy lightweight AR-10. Trying to get an AR-10 to run reliably with a silencer is a pain in the arse. If prices continue to plummet though, I may jump back in. I'll wait for the $499 AR-10's.

Been contemplating buying one of the uppers and sending it to JES to have bored to 358 win. Cheaper than I can find a 358 win barrel for already built if I count all the parts separately that are in that upper...

But an AR10 carrying handle will cost you $150! AR15 rear sight would be too tall for AR10! PSA has low rail receiver, anyone know if a tall front sight post available to use with standard AR15 BUIS?

o_O

All of our shop rifles and my own personal .308 AR, a 1st gen PSA 18" build, have run fine with every can we've put on them, from the SDN-6 to SiCo Hybrid & Harvester to TBAC Ultra 9, and many in between.

My DPMS GII was very picky with my Griffin Recce 7, even after an adjustable gas block. Never could quite get it dialed 100% with the can. Switched to bolt action anyway though, no more gassy mess.

Well, we don't have any of those. My PSA is the cheap one; the others are POF, LWRC, Noveske.

As an aside, Griffins are pretty mediocre. No offense, but when you're ready to have another go, opt for a TBAC Ultra, be it the 7 or 9. The Ultra 9 makes .300 win mag full power sound like .22 LR from a rifle, and the gas blow back in the autoloaders is pretty light. Of course, they're 50% more expensive than the Griffins, but worth it.

The Recce 7 is one of the quietest cans on the market in its size/weight class. Top tier durability and db reduction. Quieter with 5.56 than many dedicated 5.56 cans. Blowback is the same as most any other conventional baffle design.

Are you going on reviews, or what your ears say? Because we test them side-by-side, and as 7" cans go, nothing beats the TBAC ultra 7 for dB or tone. The Griffins are also heavy, being all SS, and have only 6 baffles if memory serves. I know I found it unpleasant to my ears on a 20" .308, comparable to the SDN-6, which is a good can, but outmoded.

TBAC is the cutting edge, Cadillac stuff for centerfire rifle. I'm partnered with an 07/02, get to play with dozens of different cans (includuing stuff not even on the market yet), and I wouldn't buy anything else for centerfire rifles. The weight, dB reduction and tone are second to none. SiCo harvester is about the only thing lighter than an ultra, and it's not capable of handling the abuse an Ultra will (or any other steel or Ti housed can).

I understand being attached to what you bought, and I understand that most don't have the opportunity I do to try out dozens of different cans, but we do ourselves and the community a disservice to be biased to what we own whilst dismissive of what else is out there. It's human nature, but gotta keep it in check. I'd love it if I could honestly say my SiCo Hybrid was a great investment, but I should have ponied up to buy an Osprey .45 and an Ultra 9, because the Hybrid is rather lackluster in one capacity or another on everything, owing to it's Jack-of-all-trades,master-of none design. The only reason I don't whole heartedly regret it is that there ain't many other options for suppressing hot .45-70 loads or other big bore rifle rounds. But it's heavy, especially on a handgun. It's suppression on .30 cal rifles is so-so, .223 SBRs are still obnoxious. 9mm super sonics are unpleasant through it, and my full power 10mm loads (180 gr. @ 1,300) sound about like unsuppressed .380. Just not all it was cracked up to be. I bought before I had the opportunity to test so many others, and I thought it was great.........until I had the opportunity to test so many others.

If i got that combo I would just throw on a red Dot and call it good for a cheap range gun

MachV, do you have a recommendation for a user servicable round 45 can? I've been eyeballing the octane45, revolution45, obsidian45

I'm not familiar with the Revolution, but the Octanes are good, and we just brought an Obsidian in. I tried the Obsidian on a G21 and a Kriss Vector SBR, side by side with an Osprey. My personal preference is the Osprey, as many pistols don't need suppressor sights to use it. But the square-ish profile makes the sound a little tinny. dB wise, the Octane, Osprey and Obsidian are pretty dang close, so it'll really come down to personal preference. The Obsidian does use SiCo pistons, so that's a perk if you already have SiCo cans, or plan to get them.

I'll ask the fellow I'm partenered with about the other, as he's probably shot through them.

ETA:

His opinion is

1: Rugged Obsidian
2: SiCo Octane
3: SiCo Osprey
4: AAC Ti-Rant
5: Griffin Revolution
6: YHM Sidewinder
