Hey pals. I've been wanting to SBS a coach gun I've had for a few months, but an endless parade of interruptions has slowed the project down. I have the tools to cut it down myself, but it won't likely look quite as good a professional job. I can also do the engraving, but it will really look like crapola.

My first question is I found an outfit called Paladin Armory that will cut the barrel, install a bead, and engrave my info for a very reasonable price (just under three bills). Has anyone had work done with them and how was it?

My second question is of a legal nature. I would like to, if legal, do this:
  1. File my Form 1 on eForms.
  2. Get approved.
  3. Send the barrels (not the entire gun) into Paladin to have them do the cut'n'engrave.
  4. Reinstall the barrel on the receiver when I get the barrels back.

Is there any reason why any part of that plan would be verboten?

Thanks all!

Well most of what I have seen of Bill's was some time ago but it was neat stuff. The fact that I went to high school with him and dated his sister has no bearing on whether he does good work or not.

I do recommend him to folks.....even if his sister did dump me ......

I did my metal work. He did my wood.

It was good but not great. A little course on the sanding and bubbles in the finish. The screwhole plug is not very flush and shows rough rasp marks and a poor color match. Still better that what I could had done (or had the confidence to try). More of metalworker than carpenter myself.
