Paper Calls Clarence Thomas 'Black Man with an Asterisk'
http://newsmax.com/archives/ic/2005/11/1/161818.shtml

An editorial in the Tuesday edition of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel seems to call into question the content and character behind the color of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ skin.

The newspaper – openly liberal by virtue of this opinion piece – is chock full of buzzwords straight out of the Democrat Party talking-points used to describe the nomination of Samuel Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Saying the Alito nomination "lessens the extent to which the court mirrors the nation’s rich diversity,” the editors argue that Alito’s mere presence as a man should disqualify him from the opportunity to replace Sandra Day O’Connor on the High Court.

Apparently, the Journal-Sentinel editors view the "O’Connor seat” as a female entitlement.

Most troubling, however, is the degrading, racial slap the editors make at Thomas (emphasis added):

"In losing a woman, the court with Alito would feature seven white men, one white woman and a black man, who deserves an asterisk because he arguably does not represent the views of mainstream black America.”

Will the Journal-Sentinel editors be given a free pass by their media colleagues for using such derogatory and disrespectful language – not only to Thomas, but to all blacks and all Americans?

Interesting side note, at least pertaining to firearms. I have yet to meet a person of African-American persuasion in the Indy area who is anti gun. Yet the national press/political parties give the idea that the black communities in general are all antis.

So how is Thomas not representing the views of his race?

I had no idea that Supreme Court justices represented anybody ...

Like an independently wealthy white female Supreme Court justice represents the views of mainstream white females?

Silly me, I thought the job of the SC justices was to apply the Constitution to legal cases ... help the Court be the guardian and interpreter of our Constitution, as it were -- ensuring the application of "equal justice under the law" for all Americans ... Who knew that SC justices really were there to "represent" the views of their ethnic group or gender?

Shame on the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel ...

This is going to sound pedantic, but this typo is confusing because of context. Do you mean "minority du jour," minority of the day, or "minority de jure," minority in law? Sorry to be so picky, but in the context of the court system, either is possible. ;)

Far, far away, in a galaxy where I didn't know better, I used to be a stringer for the Milwaukee Journal.

The pay was bad, the editors were alternately clueless and PC, and I finally got tired of all the bovine by product.

IMO the MJS ought to have an asterisk after the word "newspaper" in it's title. It's about ads and agitprop, not news.

Some of the Democrat/anti-Bush web sites are both anti-black and anti-Jewish. That seems to be due to the adoption of radical Islam as the latest "radical chic" by the left wing, operating as usual with the idea that any enemy of the U.S. is their natural ally. Since Islam considers Jews the mortal enemy and blacks as fit only for slaves, the left is starting to sound like the old KKK.

One can only hope that the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel winds up in front of the Supreme Court with Justice Thomas smiling like a chesire cat.:D

Remind me which party does the former Ku Klux Klan member, Robert Byrd, belong?

Whenever the liberal blockheads at work start moaning about how racist the Republicans are I ask: Which party was that of Lincoln? Which one was of Jim Crow, Robert Byrd, George Wallace, and the confederacy?

Unfortunately the average person on the street would not know the answer to those questions. Then you must realize half the people in the world are EVEN STUPIDER than the average person. Depressing ain't it ?

The most discrimiminated-against group in the United States are black republicans!

That is sad!

Camp David, you're right.

Well, I'm not black, but have spent time bleeding with friends who are, so I think I can see people as people. Clarence Thomas made the effort to get an education, use that education, go somewhere in life and is now sitting on the SCOTUS. On the other hand, we have these idiots who say because he doesn't wear his pants around his knees and carry a radio on his shoulder, he's not "black enough".

Look around and see who the talking heads are that say these things whenever someone black and intelligent is in the news. Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakahn, Al Sharpton. Remember the stink about Bill Cosby a few months ago? He was going to be speaking to some teenagers here in Cleveland and suddenly was accused of an assault that supposedly happened 20 or more years ago. Just to keep free and self sufficient thinking out of the reach of the kids who need it most. Who are Condoleeza Rice's biggest detractors? The same fools who get up and spew the "conservatives hate minorities" line.

Just one final thought, I feel this is the most important. Those in power will continue to trot out these stories and continue to sow discord amongst us the people for the sole purpose of distracting us from the real problem, which is themselves, the ones feeding us this social poison.

"In losing a woman, the court with Alito would feature seven white men, one white woman and a black man, who deserves an asterisk because he arguably does not represent the views of mainstream black America.”
And what might those 'views' be? Lives of welfare, entitlement and second class citizenship? The 'black leadership' is the most racist faction in the country; their goal is not equality, but dependence, for the purpose of retaining and increasing their power.

Plus 10 for that observation.

Clarence Thomas is the best Justice we have. And what Old Dog said; the scotus members don't represent anyone, and we need to be blind to race - it ain't got nuttin' to do wit' nuttin'. If I run out of T.P., I'll be sure and get a Mil. Journ.-Sent.
