I've got 2 stripped M1 Garand receivers and a Winchester mix master that I would like to build and or restore. The question is, can I get proper parts still or should I just get a couple of parts kits and put together two rack grade guns and leave the third as is. In either case where do I get parts/kits? I've been watching the usual places and searching Google off and on for a few months, but no luck. The two stripped are SA, 536203 (D28291-17), 2436011 (D28291-32). The Winchester is 100470 (D28291-2 WRA). All are really nice and the older two are in their original finish, the younger SA has an olive color to it so I suppose it may have been reparked. None are cut receivers.

Guys have gone broke trying to find correct M-1 parts.

E-gun parts also has Garand parts. Some parts will be luck of the draw. Most of the parts needed to bring a Winny back have already been bought up. I did order a stock from e-gun parts and lucked out by getting a Winny stock in good shape. This stock is gong to get put on a Winny if I can ever get one. You also might try the Dragon Lady for parts.

I have a WWII Springer which about 3 pieces from being correct. Finding a 1943 WWII barrel worth anything is more than likley not going to happen. Finding an the right uncut oprod is could happen but will be $. (the cut on a oprod refers to a radius cut made to relieve stress for firing rifle gernades. Most all oprods got the cut during rebuild if it did not already come cut.) Finding a good correct bolt could happen and would be some what easier find than the oprod. A correct stock? Well forget it.

I am not a collector, I am a shooter. I've found the lock bar rear sight is a pain to use when shooting a match. I don't really care for the Springer early war front sight. It's narrow and sometimes hard to focus on the center blade rather than a wing which was also a complaint from the GI's.

Thanks for the input guys, I didn't really expect that I would be able to do all three, but it would be nice to do one, especially the Winchester. I actually thought it would be easier since Winchester didn't date many of their parts. The other two I thought I could use all correct 50's parts to give them a "one rebuild" feel. I'm a pretty bad gun whore so they will never see a for sale sign, I just like guns to be as correct/original as realistically possible. Who's "the dragon lady"?

Check out the most recent Shotgun News.

DuPage Trading, and other companies, are advertising Garand parts therein.
