Dogs were making a ruckus at about 6:00 am, then I heard a coyote howling close by, gutsy yote, it was almost sunrise. Grabbed my 25-06 and headed out, sound was coming from the east, my neighbors lower pasture, where I killed one a few weeks ago. The last time I called my neighbor for permission to go after a coyote on his place he said "Don't be callin' me, go KILL the sumbitch".
Walked about a quarter mile and saw my dogs flush him out of some brush. Waited for him to stop, but he went to the top of the bluff and sat there howling at the sky (why do they do that?). He was about 200 yards away, right on the horizon, mocking me. I had to go to work, so I left him.
Now he's cocky, thinks he's got me buffaloed.
I'll get him.
