Pat Robertson: U.S. should 'take out' Venezuela's Chavez

"We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability," Robertson said. "We don't need another $200 billion war to get rid of one strong-arm dictator. It's a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with."

I don't dissagree with his opinion. Beats the hell out of sending in troops to get killed and spending 200 billion again. In that context, I can't dissagree with him on this if those are the only two options.

Amen. Why is it perfectly acceptable to send thousands of regular people to their deaths to kill thousands of other regular people when it's really the POS dictators that cause the problem, and when those dictators can be removed for a very small amount of risk and money?

Nah, we're better of feeding the military establishment with our blood and money.

Robertson is 100% correct.

Don't any of you find it odd that when a Republican says something that might be considered outrageous its splashed all over the mainstream media. When a Democrat or a Lefty makes equally outrageous comments regarding this or that, the silence is deafening?

Prior to having lunch at one time in the 70's at the Officer's Mess at the Venezuelan military base in Caracas, I stood on the military parade grounds and read the names on the huge cement markers that tower over the grounds. These beautiful and huge monuments celebrate the lives given to gain Venezuela's freedom from tyranny.

Most notable are the scores of names of Americans who gave their lives to help the Venezuelan patriots. How soon they forget. :(

Democrat or Republican, he's still an idiot. He is precisely the type of person who drove me away from religion in earlier days.

To save ten of our kids, yes, in a heartbeat. I see nothing wrong in what he said.

Robertson really nees to stay within his profession.
Given that, If I were president, there probably would have been a finding about 18 months ago.

Robertson

I read the news on this and have not read this whole thread yet.
But,I posted some time back on Robertson in 1994 95 on air telling how the USA should take out n koreas and irans nuke and the whole shabang in 1 swift broad stroke.
No one much commented on it,any way he should not have broadcast it.
He is elderly now with parkinsons and maybe alzhiemrs.
Some one should really be watching out for him.but since his broadcast is nothing but a front for coded cia messages and all............. LOL

Pat Robertson and Osama Bin Laden are two of a kind. Both want people killed and want others to do it. If I personally meet Pat within the next week I will bust his jaws and various other body parts. There is no need for him to be alive either.

Robertson's profession is the law. He doesn't have a profession now, he's a t.v. evangelist.

The last thing of this caliber I heard from the Left was made by Ward Churchill. You're right, there was no media coverage of that.

Why don't he just ask god to strike him down. God use to due that kind of stuff. Maybe he's not on speaking terms with the almighty. Wait I know, Bush can claim he has WMDs. We built one long pipeline, we can build another.

Also if some one could help bruce H wait I agree with him never mind
BRUCE ROCKS

That's pretty damn sick and misguided.

Bin Laden is pure evil, Robertson, though outrageous at times, is a man that believes we're better off without evil, the evil that threatens our existence and free God loving country.

A preacher with an opinion has always been able make people show their true colors, I see it still works

Don't you guys find it strange that a Christian is calling for the killing of anyone?
Not at all. (Though this is way off topic and a dangerous thread-lock veer.) To everything there is a season. That includes a time to kill. I may not agree with him, but it is not (necessarily) un-Christian of him to think and say this.
It is VERY strange. The word for it is "hypocritical."

Regardless of whose translation you follow (the older version says "Thou shalt not kill," the newer and more accurate version says "Do not commit murder"), what we have here is a self-proclaimed man of the cloth openly advocating going against "the Word of God." Yeah, legally he has a right to express his opinion, but given his profession he should not be holding that opinion. It most certainly IS un-Christian.

And I agree -- he has really set us up. We might as well send a battalion of Marines down to guard Chavez now, because if anything happens to him the fingers will all point to the US of A.

Robertson is guilty of one thing: not being a very good Machiavel. He is saying openly what a lot of other people are whispering, writing in private reports, or thinking. The U.S. has targeted foreign leaders before--and will again. Our leaders have been targets too.

As for his being a hypocritical Christian, Christianity hasn't survived two thousand years by being a strictly turn-the-other-cheek affair.

Bin Laden planned te 9-11 attacks, Pat Robertson agreed with Jerry Falwell that the US *deserved* the attacks.

Don't you guys find it strange that a Christian is calling for the killing of anyone?

Given the history of Christianity? Hell, no.

Tonight, the local CBS affiliate, KFSM Channel 5, did a five-minute long opening segment on the whole Robertson comment story.

A five minute long opening segment compete with "man on the street" interviews.............on comments made by a TV preacher.............

I'm still waiting for the KFSM Channel 5 five-minute-long, opening segment done about these stories........

Pat Robertson and people of his ilk like Jerry Falwell et al, are no different than Osama and company. Just religious fantics by another name that have a talent for making big bucks off ancient Hebrew mythology. They have spent resources trying to turn us into a theocracy without the violence....oh wait..... bombing family planning clinics and murdering medical staff that work there is violence.
Anyway Taliban Pat has exposed himself and his ilk for what I believe they have been all along.
Regardless of what one thinks of Hugo Chavez, Venezuela has not threatened us.

Putting aside Robertson's reputation, what about the meat of his statement?

If you can achieve the same end by:
1. Offing a POS scumbag tyrant
OR
2. Invading the POS scumbag tyrant's country, kiling thousands of the locals and getting hundreds of our boys killed...all the while spending $$$ like there is no tomorrow

Which would you choose? Pat may have a point.

***********

Oh, if you want to PM me your mailing address, I can send pre-fitted tinfoil hats to all the folks talking how Robertson is pushing theocracy. For only $50, you can not only stop those mind rays from outer space, y'all can deflect the soul-sucker rays that shoot from Robertson's eyes whenever he says the words, "Praise God!" I think $50 is a small sum for a little piece of mind.

Why do we have to do either?

So Chavez is a POS scumbag tyrant......... so's Kim Jong Il, so is Vicinte Fox, so is the Saudi royal family, so is Fidel Castro, so is Bobby Mugabe, the Iranian govt, the Chinese govt.............. and the list goes on.

What gives us the right to invade a sovereign country that poses no threat to us?

Is it the job of the U.S. to go from country to country overthrowing tinpot dictators and petty tyrants? Sure is working out well in Iraq now isn't it? :scrutiny:

If it's a matter of them exporting terrorism across our southern border, why don't we just.......................................................uhhmmm.... secure our borders? Or is it really about the oil? :scrutiny:

If it's oil, we got plenty. Get up here and get it. We want to sell our oil. We promise to charge fair market price for it too. :D
