PayPal has adopted a political policy not to allow their service to pay for firearms, parts, ammunition, cases, primers, bullets, or primers. :fire: See:

Suggest you check out BidPay, which operates similarly, and has no such restrictions.

When you win an EBAY auction the PayPal system lists what you are paying for on their invoice.

True, but if I were to buy some high capacity magazines from you and paid via PayPal, they wouldn't know why I sent you the money. Or am I missing something?

Wow, I just paid for 2,000 bullets thru paypal that I purchased off an ebay seller. Went thru without any issues.

I have thought about using bidpay and will look into it in the near future. For now, I'll keep using paypal cause I have it set up. I'll also keep using ebay cause I save tons of money.

IIRC, this thread has something that other "PayPal bites" threads don't - an ALTERNATIVE! Thanks for the info.

And for that matter, thanks for the reminder. Their anti-gun, anti WEAPON for that matter, IIRC, stance may not be noticed by some until they're banned for violating it.

Sure, I know we SHOULD all read the 8,000,000 word essays that are in user agreements in full....but really, who does?

Or what if you're like me, when guns were not even a concern when I signed up for PayPal.

Anyway, I don't use them "casually" but I do still use them when dealing with certian people that like to tick PayPal off. :D I don't think it's against the PayPal terms to use it to donate to a gun-related message board...but it's still gotta irk them I bet!

I stopped using paypal after they continued to charge me for a service I had canceled.

I had a subscription, canceled it, and paypal continued to bill me anyway and since I wasn't expecting it I ended up having bank fees from bouncing things. The bank agreed to wave the fees and the guy selling what I was buying got ticked at paypal and refunded the money personally. Paypal? They had zero interest and were convinced I did not cancel properly, even after going down the check list and me saying I did every one of the steps. They had the seller telling them point blank I canceled. Nope no part of it. I followed it properly, the process was rediculesly complicated to begin with and IMO designed to have you screw up, and when the screw up was on their end they didn't care.

Paypal has zero interest in customer service, absoloutly zero. Walmart cares more about their customers.

As shameful as it is to admit this, I have and do use Paypal. I don't like to, but in many instances it's the only option I have. I've been screwed over a couple of times and Paypal has made it good. Doesn't mean I like them though. I've bought gun related stuff off of Ebay, and used Paypal no problem. As someone else mentioned, if you purchase a non-Ebay item, and use Paypal, they don't know what it's for. Done that too!!!!! What's this other service and what's their reputation?

I have used paypal extensively for both personal and business matters for about 7 years and never had any problem.

I can't speak to the purchasing of gun related things using paypal, but all my dealings with them have been flawless.

Unfortunately, PayPal is the leader, and people are reluctant to use pay services they're not familiar with.

They may be anti-gun, but this year thousands of dollars went through their system in contributions to the Wisconsin Concealed Carry Movement political action committee.

GearPay

There is another outfit called GearPay, that is gun-friendly also.

I've gotten more Phishing expeditions, in the guise of PayPal emails, lately, too. That's another good reason to start spreading our business around, I think.

I sell CZ recoil guide rods on E-Bay. I REFUSE Pay Pal payment. I had a guy tell me I had to take it, because he allready put it in. I reminded him to read my ad. CHECKS OR M.O. ONLY. NO PAY PAL.

I use paypal. It's an easy way of sending money. I guess I'll check out bidpay...

As far as paying for gun stuff, you can just send it as a "goods-other" to the person, without paying through the ebay system.

Also, it wont piss paypal off at all if you defiantly use their system to pay for guns. They get 6% of any money you send, regardless of what it's being sent for.

If you don't use paypal, you're just shooting yourself in the foot. Most sellers accept it and only it, most buyers will use it and only it. It would be like only purchasing gas from gas stations who don't take credit cards.

PayPal has NO IDEA what you are buying. If you buy something on ebay, yes, sometimes the info is included with the paypal payment, but it doesn't have to be. Also most firearms related items are illegal on ebay as well, so you can't buy much there anyway. I've used paypal more than once to buy weed...do you think they "allow" that? :neener:

I use Paypal almost weekly and never had an issue with firearms accessories or with their administration. I received a MN bolt last week and expecting another within a few days.

PayPal does not have a political policy concerning firearms. It is a matter of state law (California) and liability. They are owned by ebay which is not "anti-gun". They simply cannot broker deals for weapons that are illegal in CA. You can buy every kind of firearm part and accessory imaginable on ebay. You cannot buy (nor finance through PayPal) guns, bullets, switchblade knives (though many knives are sold there), expandable batons, clubs, etc. It's not that guns are illegal in CA, but the purchase, transfer and ownership requirements make it not a viable option for ebay to allow firearm sales or to allow them to be financed through PayPal. I have a dealer account with RSR and I have sold a ton of firearms accessories and even self defense items on ebay that were financed through PayPal. The issue is what is legal in California.

Without being too specific about HOW I know, eBay's Trust and Safety department ASSUMES you are a fraudster if you sell without accepting paypal. They will look at the listing, and test other factors, sometimes giving the seller a phone call to verify it isn't fraud.

If you don't use paypal, you are a criminal to eBay.
