I tried searching for it here, but haven't found a topic on it just yet, but ....

I am having massive problems trying to get this Pearce Magazine Grip Extension onto my 10 round Glock magazine.

I tried all the standard help, ranging from using channel grips, to some funky ways to holding them and I am frankly puzzled as to why this is not working. The technique is simple:
I push the button on the bottom of the magazine in and jiggle it to where it stays in, then I squeeze the sides and try to take off the bottom plate ...
BUT THE SIDES DON'T SQUEEZE! As in, there is no give and I have tried channel locks on those, too, just for good measure.

Halp plz!

Don't just push that button until it stays inside. Punch it all the way in, until the plate it's attached to drops down inside the mag spring. Otherwise that plate will still be in its position underneath the floor plate and will block the sides of the mag from flexing inward, which is what you need them to do.

Hope that was clear.

EDIT TO ADD: I'm not sure the plate actually falls down inside the spring. It might be outside or alongside or somewhere, but the point is to make sure that it's no longer in position under the floor plate.

It worked! Kinda. Now I lost it. Just for giggles though, and to see if I could do it since I'm already buying a new mag I installed the grip extender and just cycling the action it cycles the bullets just fine minus the baseplate. Not sure if that's safe in actual firing, but it works dry.

You lost the baseplate? The part that you punch in to disassemble? Did it fall out when you took the floorplate off? But it works without it? Hmm...

The test will be to see what happens under recoil--whether the floorplate says put or starts to walk. I'm betting it stays put, but you might have other issues, like reliable feeding, etc

Time to get down on your hands and knees and start looking for that baseplate...

Been doing that ... if I find it, it's luck ... but I'll try it under recoil. worst case scenario I buy a new mag.

Good luck! Midway has the standard 10-round magazines on sale for $23.99. Shipping will jack the price up there a bit, but it spreads out if you order several of them.

Alright, I took the magazine that's missing parts out today and did some slow fire and some "as fast as I can pull the trigger" testing ... and it functioned without a hitch. the baseplate seems to have nothing to do with the performance.

That being said I still went to my favorite shop, got myself another magazine and added the Pearce Extensions to both magazines that are complete now. Just because I could.

I fear I just drank the Kool-Aid, because I am a fan.
