I have a Kimber Micro 9 that is all black with the OD green Crimson Trace laser sight grips. The laser sight is a no-go for me as I grip the pistol up high and my fat index finger blocks the laser. I've been considering grips with a bit of "bling" to offset the flat black color. Found a set of "Ivory" grips that has the natural grain look of real pearl.

Would this be too "Pimp" of a look?

Sometimes ya just gotta fancy stuff up a bit. I think they’re pretty cool myself. :) My micro 9 has the rubbery panels, I will say that these do help my mitts hold onto the gun when I’m shooting it... but they’re rather blah.

One of my good buddies was a 6’6”, 265 pound surfer dude working in the ghetto/barrio city we used to work in. When he was on the gang team he carried a polished chrome 1911 with pearl grips in a swivel holster. That gun/holster combo had such panache’ on the streets, to this day I swear it got a wider variety of good and bad people talking to him than anything else I’ve ever seen.

Stay safe.

I like the ivory, especially once it gets some age on it.

Cant do the pearl. The big fuzzy hat, long velvet coat, and 4" platform shoes with the goldfish swimming in the heels that come with them, just arent my style. :p

I think those would be the dog's bollocks if they were bordered and checkered too.

I admire General Patton, but I wish that quote about pearl handled revolvers had never made it into the movie. I think it pretty much single handedly killed the market for nice, real, mother-of-pearl grips.

That, and them being stupendously slippery when not textured.

I sold a first-generation SAA that had the thickest, singularly most incredible set of grips for exactly that reason. I didn't want to take the grips off without having them on a grip frame for safety - and didn't want to handle the gun.... for safety.

If your hands were Minnesota-winter or Arizona dry - grip was compromised.

If your hands were decidedly sweaty - grip was compromised.

If oil or protectant migrated to the MOP - grip was compromised.

But doggone it if they weren't the most beautiful things I have yet to see on ANY SAA in my entire life.

One of my kids got these faux ivory grips for my Colt Mustang for my birthday last year. I think they look great with the blued finish on the gun!

Liked them so much that I got a pair of them for my Colt Government too!

My brother has a Colt Model 1908 which was nickel plated and had the factory pearl grips with Colt medallions on them. Talk about a stunning looking pistol! But you're so right about those slab-like grips being so heavy and slippery! Definitely better suited for display than they were for practical use!

I had completely forgotten about the weight. So much on my SAA and so high that it carried extremely strangely in the holster and carried a lot of inertia on recoil.

But then..., there was bar-b-queing with that gun!

Made the most stand-up-&-howl Mexican-Cowboy 1911 look like the Farmer's *other* daughter!

Kind of find myself in agreement with Electricmo in that your new grips look more like faux ivory than they look like faux pearl. These grips that I have on my Colts are faux ivory and pretty much look the part.

Now what toivo had in his post as being Pearlite from Ajax Grips is more what I think of when faux pearl grips are mentioned.

Yep, they are a faux ivory, double checked the ad for them. The ad said ivory pearl grips in the heading, what ever that is supposed to be.
