Experience is showing me that .22 LR is not all that accurate no matter what you do, so I am thinking I should forgo scoping my latest: a Savage A22. I feel like a peep sight will give me about as much accuracy as a scope at .22 distances with much faster acquisition and less aggravation.

Problem: no one cares about the A22. I can't find a peep sight made to fit the receiver.

I am thinking about getting a Weaver base and attaching a UTG rear sight to it. It looks like no one else makes a low-profile rear sight that fits a Weaver or Picatinny base. The big advantage of my approach is that it's cheap. Should cost under $20, total.

Wondering if anyone else has dealt with this problem.

I'm curious as to what accuracy you are expecting,,,
and what accuracy you are actually getting.

I'm not ragging or arguing with you at all,,,
Just curious as to your criteria.

With a 3-9x40 scope and standard velocity ammo,,,
I'm hitting a 1/2" circle at 50 yards using a CZ-512 rifle.

Isn't that decent accuracy?

Aarond

.P.S. I am amused by the similarity of our forum names,,,

Ive been looking for a good cheap option for adding a rear peep to weaver/pic rails for a while, and the UTG is one of the lower sights ive seen, but you will still likely need a taller front.
XS makes one that might work well, but its expensive http://www.xssights.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=993847

You may want to contact Williams and see if they make any peeps that will fit where the stock rear sight goes.

I am waiting for a response from Williams now.

I found a taller front sight. Williams makes them, and they come in different heights. It looks like I would have to experiment before ordering, to find out which height would work best.

Yeah I had to mess with fronts on a couple projects. One trick is to glue a match stick or other thingy like it to the stock front then trim it down till your poi is in the middle of your rear sights adjustment range...

I gave up on this. The Savage is far superior to my Marlin 60, so I'm going to try scoping the Savage and putting a peep sight on the Marlin.

A company called Tech-Sights makes a complete kit for the Marlin, and it's on the way.

I got the UTG rear sight, and it looks like a great product, but I guess it's going back.
