I just purchased a 44 cal. BP pistol, First one. I see pellets of powder and this seems the way to go. I only see 30 gr. and the mfg. says for target use 22 gr. is good. Are 22 gr. pellets available?

Thanks, Old Man

NOPE ...................... pellets for the pistol (Pyro "P") only come in 30gr and I think Triple Seven will be coming out in 30gr pellets soon too.

But you'll want either a pistol (P) or 3fg grade of pellet (or loose powder) for that pistol............2fg (RS or Select) doesn't work well.

Oh, the 30gr Pryo P pellets work pretty darn good - if you want the convienence of the pellet, go for 'em. :D

Mark, Thanks. I will use the Pyro P 30 gr. pellets for convience and extra safety. I don't like the idea of loose powder on a windy day at the range,
but I am sure I could reload with the pellets with no problems. I need pellets, .454 round lead balls, round treated patches, grease, and caps, and I will be ready to fire, I hope. If I am wrong please let me know as I have read too much info and I am starting to get a little confused.

Many thanks, Old Man

Josey. Many thanks. I will go to them and give this thing a try. It is pretty heavy with a 7.5" barrel so it should be good to shoot.

Thanks, Old Man

Josey - I found everything at Dixie except the Pyrodex pellets. Do they sell them or do I have to go somewhere else?

Thanks, Old Man

The 30gr Pyro P pellets are a little harder to find (and I don't believe Dixie sells powders at all). Sometimes you can get them at local gun stores.................but you can be sure to get them at BassPro, Cabelas, MidSouth Shooter's Supply, Natchez, Grafs, and any number of other on-line shops. However, you will pay an additional $20 shipping charge for the pellets or any type of powder or primers. Shop around - you'll probably find that you can get a couple boxes of powder pellets and a case of primers cheaper on-line than you can locally, even WITH the shipping surcharge included..........................that's how I've gotten most all of my powders and primers.

BTW..............based on your earlier post I want to clarify something..................you do NOT need lubed patches to shoot ball out of a cap & ball revolver - they work differently than rifles do in that regard. You CAN use lubed wads between the powder & ball (I do), but don't EVEN try to load a patched ball into the cylinder.

Mark - I have been using Natchez for many years so I will try them. Thanks and I understand about the patches and rifles only.

Many thanks, Old Man - Steve D.
