Midway USA has these on sale for $89.99. Having used electronic earmuffs before I like them and feel that they have advantages in many situations. Has anyone used these particular muffs and have an opinion either good or bad about them? They look like they have a low outline.

Thanks.

For that price, get 'em. I used a pair of Peltor Tac-6's for several years, and only upgraded to the Peltor Com-Tac muffs after I lost my Tac-6's at the range. :( The muffs were very compact, and the sound on them was very good IMO. If you shoot long-guns and you find that the earmuff cup is too thick on the bottom for a good cheek weld, you can gently unsnap the headband from the earmuff cups and re-attach them upside down so that the tapered top is on the bottom, giving you even more relief space for the buttstock on your long-gun.

I've also used Tac-7's, Dillon e-muffs, and Radians e-muffs, and I still think the Tac-6 is the best balance of price vs. performance for any shooter who doesn't have to suit-up in BDU's to do their shooting(i.e. LEO/Military).

I use the 6S muffs. I love them. I really like the low profile and light weight. They are comfortable, to me, too.

I like mine too - but IIRC pointed caseydog here to Botach when they had an offer going for something around $70. Check em out. I paid well over $100 when I got mine ... Grrr .. :(

The one problem I find is - when I have them in range bag and they move around, sometimes one side gets switched on, occasionally both!! I am going to try keeping them in a small baggy to try and obviate this. They do the job for me and certainly are nowhere near as huge and ungainly as some I see.

I've had mine for years. Fantastic. I also paid quite a bit more than $80 for mine...

cool. i like mine. they are good for the price. at first they worked great, but they have not held up well over a year of hard use. now, even w/ new batts, they don't sound like new, but i did get them for $80 as well. more expensive ones, i've heard, hold up better. my next pair will be something different. but, i am recommending my dad to get them, they are perfect for him.

Point one They do work as advertised.

Point two Keep them out of the sun, I used to through them on the dash and the sun deformed the cases enough that the ear pads no longer fit in the cases.

point three i like T7's better

I now keep mine in a tupperware tub in my truck, they stay cleaner, they saty off, and they do not get caught up in stuff in the back seat.

I just ordered a pair from Midway yesterday...my best friend is also ordering.

Ordered a pair from Botach for same price last Saturday...found out they were out of stock. I cancelled the order and went to Midway.

6's

I HAVE HAD A COUPLE OF PAIRS OF THE TAC 6'S. THEY ALWAYS SEEMED TO PRESS AGAINST MY EARS TOO MUCH. AND THEY ARE ONLY 19DCB RATED. I JUST GOT A PAIR FROM DON NYGORD'S WEB SITE (WHO JUST RECENTLY PASSED WAY) OF A NEW PAIR FROM ENGLAND WHICH I REALLY LOVE. THEY A 25DCB RATED AND HAVE MORE EAR ROOM .YET THEY FOLD UP JUST LIKE THE TAC 6'S. I'VE GOT A LARGER HEAD AND THESE NEW ONES JUST FIT BETTER. JUST SOMETHING FOR YOU GUYS TO LOOK AT. ONLY $79 JP

Dad got me a pair of these for Christmas, and I've been using them at a local indoor range. Since I've taken to using both plugs and muffs, its been hard to hear the range commands all the time. With the Peltors that isn't a problem at all. :)

JimPGov,

I've never heard of Don Nygord but is someone still running his website selling those muffs? If so what's the web address and what is the brand of muffs?
