If this is a dupe sorry.

I just saw the Penn & Teller BS show on gun control. It Made up for sitting through Texas SWAT. They expressed a view rarley seen on the tube. It wasnt just for hunters, or LE's. If you own a gun you need to see this episode.Or even more so show it to an anti. Maybe someone with better cpu skills than I can post a link.
+1 Penn & Teller

I saw it this morning too. A refreshing veiw of gun control, preformed with a sense of humor and some interesting facts. I recomend veiwing also.

What network/cable channel was it on?

BTW Mot45acp, the thread title sounds negative, yet the text sounds positive. Did you mean for that to be or is "BS" the name of the show?

Showtime. I think Penn & Teller needs to be required viewing at all schools.

For some annoying reason, they pepper their shows with four letter words making it inaccessible for the regular nets or schools, but the research and logic are usually very good.

If you liked Gun Control, run, don't walk to see them blow the lid off of PETA.

MAl H

That's the name of the show. They debunk different myths and rumors.
If you have sensitive ears, you may not like it as they can get pretty raunchy, but they are very informative.

Serendipitously, I just viewed a link of the episode on PETA a few minutes on TFL (The Hunt forum). Excellent exposé on the group and P&T's fact finding was admirable. Yes, the language is coarse, but it sure fits the subject well.

Now I'm going to try to find the Gun Control episode. (I don't get Showtime.)

No, the wimp.com link is a link to copyrighted material, a torrent file contains no copyrighted information. Use it or don't. I have a hard time seeing getting worked up about sharing a Penn&Teller episode

Where can I buy the Season 3 DVD of Penn and Teller? I havn't been able to find it anywhere.

Season three isn't out on dvd yet and won't be til sometime in spring i don't think. Personally I see no ethical problem in downloading the show, and buying the dvd set when it comes out. Legally you're on your own. Its a great show and seasons 1&2 are worth watching. They tackle everything from dr phil, bottled water, religion (sure to offend many I'm sure), recycling, peta, and the war on drugs. If you're a libertarian, this show is for you.

That was precisely the point I'm trying to make. I might buy it when it comes out, but if downloading it now is the only way to see it I have no problem doing so.

Showtime cable channel for Penn & Teller (anti) B.S.

I sometimes find them by accident using my cable remote info
button to see whats on other channels and they are usually
worth watching.

Penn and Teller are a Vegas Night Club magic act who decided
there was a market for debunkers of urban legends and other B.S.

I believe they did one on psychics and seances, another on taste
tests of bottled water in NYC that was actually their NYC tap water
(water "gourmets" could not tell the difference).
They puncture hot air ballons and eventually gore anyones sacred cow.
But they do their homework and have usually stuck to countering
B.S. with hard fact prersented entertainingly, if a bit vulgar.

If anything is a load of B.S. it is guncontrol and PETA.

Hey attorneys: if I subscribe to cable with showtime and miss an
episode, is it "fair" to download the missed episode? (I suspect
unless Showtime has a download site, the answer is no).
"Pirate" downloads = no pay and no Nielson ratings for P&T.

My favorite episode (so far, haven't seen the gun control one yet) was the one on environmentalists. They got a whole bunch of supposed environmentalists who were spouting off their knowledge about the environment to sign a petition banning water. (They use the term di-hydrogen monoxide - aka H2O) They didn't lie about any of the things that water does but were able to convince all these people that water killed 10's of thousands of people every year, was infesting all of our fruits and vegetables, etc.

Have a good one,
Dave

Went onto showtime on demand and watched it, love the show but I seemed to have missed the specific episode.

Was great. While I disagree with them sometimes all in all its a great show.

I Saw Them In Vegas

I saw them on my honeymoon. They explain all their "tricks" except the final one.
They brought 2 members from the audience had each one write their name on the casing to a .357 and then draw a symbol of thier choice onto the actual bullet. Penn & Teller then stepped behind 2 panes of glass about 30' apart facing each other. The revolvers had laser sights. They pointed the revolvers at eachothers mouth and fired. Both panes of glass fragment and fall. They then come to the front of the stage and spit the bullets into the volunteers hands and remove the brass from the gun. The bullets pictures and names on the brass matched up.
Prrrretttttyyy Trrriiccckkkyyy
All in all a good show. Highly recomended. It is a show that you can take kids to. They dont curse (they even mentioned that in the show) like they do on Showtime.

For some annoying reason, they pepper their shows with four letter words

Comedian Jackie Mason's comment was (IMNSHO) 100% appropriate:
"Anyone who believes in gun control is a (efing) idiot!"
:what: :what:

The program led off with an interview with Roger Rosenblatt - who would like to see a complete ban on private firearm ownership. I almost changed the channel. They more than made up for it later on though. Amost every time they referred to Rosenblatt they were quick to mock or insult him.

All in all it was (IMHO) very pro gun/ pro RKBA slanted.

Suzanna Hupp in tight jeans alone is worth watching!
(Holy Moses is she good looking!!! I gotta tell you - still pictures of her do her no justice @ all.)

lmao. ive got to see that one

I MISSED THAT ONE...

I've gotta' find that gun control BS show!!! Somehow I missed it. Saw the PETA one. For all you who "admire" PETA's work like I do, feel free to use the little "NO PETA" symbol (below) that I use on ALL my postings.

The episode where they use the petition AGAINST THE USE OF WATER was hilarious. Shows what a bunch of ignorant A-holes the Libertarians actually are. Or, as Bugs Bunny would say, "What a maroon!!!"

Whoever said they "peppered" their comments with too many expletives to make it fodder for a larger audience, is absolutely correct. That's the ONE thing I've got against them. However, check the title of the show, and go from there.

If God hadn't intended us to eat animals why did he make them taste like MEAT???

The water episode didn't show anything at all about Libertarians. The signers where college kids who were idealistic leftwingers environmentalists. This is the polar opposite of Libertarians.

For those w/o Showtime, they had a petition at some Green rally asking to outlaw dihydrogen oxide which has shown to cause drowning, dependency, etc.

I said their show was too peppered with four letter words to show kids. My complaint is that the use of these words adds nothing to the show yet takes audience away. I'd like my daughter (13) to develop a skeptical mind about various claims, but I can't very well show her P&T. She'd just turn off due to the language.

I agree that the language detracts from the show. It's a sign of laziness that they throw obscenities at the people they're criticizing. Anyone can call names, it takes talent to make a cutting satire.

i think you're mistaking Libertarians for some other group. Libertarians believe guns should be regulated by personal responsiblity not by government. P&T are Libertarians as well as many others on this board.
