Phila Mayor: "Nutter: NRA should apologize to slain cop's family"

Every gun tells a story," said Tony Robbins, of the ATF. "This one has its story, too."

Every BATFE agent that ever gets quoted in a newspaper has a story to tell also- usually a self-agrandizing story full of exaggerations.

The false garbage that is spewed is just so unbelievable

that it makes the head spin. Sigh....

I'll just hit the high points (I know, preachin to the choir, but maybe antis or fence sitters read here):

Let's start off with this idgit Krajewski. His statements are so outlandish that I think they must be made up, or he was paid by the anti-freedom lobby to spout this canned nonsense, which is word for word verbatim from the gun banner's mantras:

"There is absolutely no reason that anyone should be carrying around military-style assault weapons," he said. "I mean, we saw what a weapon like that did to a human body. I mean, I own guns and my sons and I hunt as well, but I don't have assault rifles or anything. There's no need for it."

1. Yes, there is plenty of reason - that's what the second amendment is all about - MILITARY STYLE weapons - weapons useful to effectuate the purpose of the 2A, which is to overthrow the government if a tyrant comes to power - a tyrant like GWB has shown signs of wanting to be.
2. If you hunt, then you are lying or at least disingenuous, because you know full well that the vast majority of hunting gun calibers that you and your friends use to hunt with are far more devastating to a human than the 7.62x39mm round.
3. No need for it, eh? See #1

Ironically, Krajewski is a former NRA member, and he still owns three semiautomatics. None of that matters to him right now.

"These guns are made for destruction," he said yesterday inside his living room. "They need to ban assault weapons. They're military weapons." He said he knows some friends still in the NRA would disagree, but "I don't care.

1. Guns made for destruction? Sure, and your hunting guns are not? Of course they are - they're GUNS! The 2A doesn't work with water pistols. That's not gonna overthrow a tyrannical government.
2. He owns three semi-auto rifles, but he thinks that the SKS should be banned, but the 3 he owns does not? What is the difference in them? They all operate the same way. I'd sure like to know whether he has a Rem 7400 which takes mags with the same capacity as an SKS (10).
3. Military weapons? Sort of, but not really. The SKS is an old, outdated design. The MOST modern military weapons in existence must be made available to the American citizen, for the purpose of the 2A to work; that is, to act as a check against the power of the standing army; i.e. as a militia force. That is why US v. Miller stated quite clearly that a small arm is protected to the individual under the 2A if it is "useful to a miliatary or paramilitary group". So if the SKS is a military weapon, then all the more reason why it cannot be banned. Actually, the truth is that his hunting buddies' single shots can constitutionally be banned, but full -autos cannot - that's what the 2A is about - military style weapons.

This is a Philadelphia problem.
No, this is a brain problem, to erroneously think that gun bans are gonna decrease violent crime ANYWHERE - and Philly is no exception. This is a failure to get tough on violent offenders problem. It is a failed and corrupt big city leadership problem. Has nothing to do with implements of steel and wood.

"They need to get in the real world where the rest of us live," he said. "They owe an apology to the family for their staunch opposition over many, many years blocking legislative support for these kinds of matters."
Dude! No legislation will stop this butthole from getting any gun and killing - why can't antis get that through their thick skulls!?

Just smoke and mirrors to divert attention away from the real issue of many decades of failed policies on crime - soft sentences, revolving jailhouse doors, corrupt police, etc.

Either way, the facts revealed yesterday about how such a powerful rifle - sold at a gun show in North Carolina some 10 years ago - ended up in the hands of three convicted felons tell a sad story of America's failed gun policies.

Biased journalism. That statement presumes a failed "gun policy", which is taking a side on the heart of the matter that is the subject of debate. The reality is that it's a failed "crime policy" which has nothing to do with guns. Also, if there is this so-called "gun show loophole", then how praytell, was it allegedly traced to a NC gun show 10 years prior?

"There's a ton of them out there. They can lay some heavy firepower. We see them periodically being used by street gangs and drug organizations. It's a pretty menacing gun."

So the BATF spokesman, presumbably their best expert on guns, is assessing the alleged dangerousness of a gun, by its "menacing" looks? Set aside for a moment that the SKS does not actually have menacing looks, compared to most military-derived designs. What makes it so menacing then?

Bah..

here's another perfect example of a dumb a** liberal mayor who doesn't know his a** from a hole in the ground he needs to buy a clue

I bought my SKS in 92 for $99, paid less than $20 for a thirty round magazine that worked without any modifications to the carbine other than removing the ten rd. permanent magazine.Oh and it had the coolest spike bayonet.Sold it in 2001 for $350 during the ban.Had fired 1200 trouble free rounds through it, including some glasers.Sales of weapons with bayonets even though made before the effective date of the ban were banned. The 1200 rounds of steel core ammo I had purchased were later ruled to be illegal as they would pierce armor. But the presidential finding only blocked further importation of such ammo, not the possession of same. That was the same presidential order that blocked importation of anything from Norinco.I'll bet the chinese were ticked about that especially after donating $800,000 to Clintons re-election fund. But they did get to sleep one night in the Lincoln bedroom for their generosity.

Another Okie: I put the information and some other information into an email which I sent to the article. In addition to the FBI data I used in my original post, I challenged his claim that the SKS is not used as a hunting rifle.
These weapons are not used to hunt deer in the idyllic woods of Pennsylvania, but to hunt police officers on the streets of Philadelphia.
Another Philadelphia newspaper referred to the SKS as the "poor man's hunting rifle" in an article about the homicide. To me, it looks like one Philadelphia paper should be issuing a correction, because one paper must be wrong. Once I get a response, I'll post again.

If anyone should apologize, it should be the lax pinheads in the Criminal Justice System who have set up , for whatever reason , the revolving door set-uo that keeps these career criminals on the streets.
Sixteen priors?
If the perp averaged 1/year he must have got his start at age 16.
Wonder what nutter has to sat about the backlog of 6000 un-prosecuted gun crimes in his fair city.
Yep thats a fact.
Zeke

NRA member to Nutter: "You should apologize to mine."

As a member of the NRA, I had absolutely NOTHING to do with the slaying of that policeman, except in the fevered mind of Mayor Nutter and all his fellow travelers.

Nutter now owes me and mine an apology.

Gun control. It's what neoLiberal politicians do instead of something.

If a gun is actually traced to a gun show, does that mean that the sale at the gun show was by a licensed dealer and required a background check?

From the statistics that I've read about gun show sales, the ATF admits that they don't even include the sales by private sellers because they can't track those.

So are gun show sales always mentioned to push for 'gun show loophole' legislation, intentionally leaving out that the actual sale was legal and required a background check?

Police commissioner said the suspects should have been in jail to begin with. They were in a halfway house. Career criminals....on the loose again.
We need to cut off the trigger fingers.

A Chinese SKS is one matter, the thousands of Russian, Romanian, and Yugoslavian SKS's are quite another, as they are C & R, and it becomes difficult for such bans to be legal. The reason Chinese SKS's are seen as "Assault Weapons" are because of the few individual rifles that were made by the Chinese to accept AK magazines. Some of even those rifles would be legal because they were designated as "Sporters", had the bayonet lug totally removed, came with 5 round magazines, and had a thumbhole stock. So, those rifles more than complied with even the Assault Weapons ban, and were only kept from import because Clinton banned those from import. C & R weapons don't even require a "sporting use".

The limiting on the use of "gun trace" data from the ATF, is to protect the privacy and rights of legal gun owners, not to keep the "public from the information. Gun trace data isn't necessarily useful in colving crimes. The SKS's could have been incidental to a real crime, or they could have been stolen.

Felon with gun -->illegal
Bank robbery -->illegal
Armed robbery -->illegal
conspiracy to commit armed robbery -->illegal
committing murder-->illegal

Let's enforce the laws on the books, not make more. This is what Mr. Nutter needs to concentrate his efforts on, not knee jerk leftist blather.

There's no legitimate argument by the NRA, they need to get in the real world where the rest of us live and come to grips with these kinds of issues.

It's Mayor Nutter who does not live in the real world. He lives in Philadelphia. It is the world he and his predecessors created.

Mayor Nutter has just signed several city ordinances that violate the law in Pennsylvania. He knows they are illegal but he did it anyway and he boasts of doing so. Many people in Philadelphia follow its Mayor's example. They break the law and boast about it too. When there's no real difference between the Mayor and the other lawbreakers in a city, the rest of us--those who live in the real world--must come to grips with those kinds of issues.

Philadelphia is out of control because its Mayor is incompetent and has no respect for the law. It's a city long overdue for federal supervision until it can be restored to operation by a competent, law abiding city administration.

This country is long past the time when it can afford to tolerate incompetent Mayors who are incapable of administering its municipalities within the law and know how to do nothing but blame others for their own failings.

When mayors like this Nutter stoop to accusing law-abiding citizens for the acts of criminals the time has come to get them out of office. Despite what Mayors Nutter, Bloomberg, Menino, and Daley believe, decent people have the right to disagree with them. Really we do.

This is the real world.

Good posts, PremiumSauces,Zeke/PA, and geekWithA.45 (not to exclude other good posts by members though). You guys said all of what I was just about to say myself.

Mr.Krajewski's semi-auto "hunting" rifles, and even any bolt action ones, are just as "devastating", if not MORESO, than an sks and/or 7.62x39. Given the choice between being shot 5 times with a Win. Model 70 bolt deer gun in 30-06, or an sks in 7.62x39, I like my odds of survival a fair bit better with the sks, personally. But, it matters not, 5 hits from a 10/22 is plenty to kill you, as is just 1 shot from a benchrest, single shot .22lr for that matter. Hit the right organs, or loose enough blood waitng for help, and the gun or caliber used is moot. How does a supposed gun owner, hunter, and former NRA member not see this? :banghead:

"These guns are made for destruction," he said yesterday inside his living room. "They need to ban assault weapons. They're military weapons." He said he knows some friends still in the NRA would disagree, but "I don't care

Here is a guy who is much more dangerous than any non gun owning gun hater.

You can deal with someone who just hates all guns, but those who believe that the guns they own are all right while the ones you want to own are bad are a greater threat to our liberties and freedoms.

Reminds me of another mindless madman who had the following to say:

"I must be living in a vacuum. The guides on our hunt tell me that the use of AR and AK rifles have a rapidly growing following among hunters, especially prairie dog hunters. I had no clue. Only once in my life have I ever seen anyone using one of these firearms.

I call them "assault" rifles, which may upset some people. Excuse me, maybe I'm a traditionalist, but I see no place for these weapons among our hunting fraternity. I'll go so far as to call them "terrorist" rifles. They tell me that some companies are producing assault rifles that are "tackdrivers."

Sorry, folks, in my humble opinion, these things have no place in hunting. We don't need to be lumped into the group of people who terrorize the world with them, which is an obvious concern. I've always been comfortable with the statement that hunters don't use assault rifles. We've always been proud of our "sporting firearms."

This really has me concerned. As hunters, we don't need the image of walking around the woods carrying one of these weapons. To most of the public, an assault rifle is a terrifying thing. Let's divorce ourselves from them. I say game departments should ban them from the praries [sic] and woods."

Our greatest threat to firearms liberty seems to come from within our own supposed community.

Philly? Oh yeah, that's the place where the mayor dropped C4 on his citizens a while back. And then he took 3 years to rebuild the row houses of the innocent neighbors that he had destroyed. Great city to live in.

Yeah, it gets crazy out there

Nutter is looking for an easy scapegoat to pin all the blame on.

No law would have prevented the law-LESS and the violent from harming others. This is part of the insanity of human EGO, which presumes if you pass legislation, it imposes a form of control on human beings.

In fact, no force on earth imposes our will upon the lawless. If only the answers were as easy as Nutter suggests. If he thinks we could just eliminate the NRA and the world would be wonderful, he's nutty [no pun intended], and worse, his mind is in complete denial of human history and reality.

Here's an idea!
Pass a law REQUIRING everyone to possess an assault rifle. Then, by definition, the criminals won't have them...

How is that for a strategy?

qajaq59 Philly? Oh yeah, that's the place where the mayor dropped C4 on his citizens a while back. And then he took 3 years to rebuild the row houses of the innocent neighbors that he had destroyed. Great city to live in.

You forgot that Mayors name was GOOD! Used friend to rebuild that block, and before they were done they were falling apart, cracks in the masonry, and had to be demolished. All at taxpayers expense. The friend that did the shoddy work didn't even get a slap on the wrist.

This mayor, Nutter, has no regard for the law. Makes up some illegal laws, against state constitution and the DA says she will never prosecute any of these illegal laws. HE needs to be arrested for breaking the laws of the state.

Why is it that politicians can break the law and stay on the job?

Yes, blame the NRA for calling you on your illegal activity and getting an injunction in court to stop your illegal activity. Nutter, what an appropriate name. PA needs to start using the death penalty on these career criminals. It doesn't matter how many laws are added. 17 felonies should have warranted the death penalty, or at a minimum, life without parole. Parole board should be held accountable, not the NRA. Accessory after the fact. All should be tried for murder. The gun isn't the crime. Allowing a felon with that many felonies loose on society is the crime.:banghead:

All the perps were convicted felons! They can't buy guns legally already. Plus, as others have stated they all should still have BEEN IN JAIL!

Nutter and his cronies are truely MORONS.
