....there was this Taurus 65 attached to it!!!
I was browsing a local pawnshop and saw this one. I couldn't resist. It seems to be about $400 worth of really well done custom work attached to a Taurus 65. The way I looked at it, I paid $200 for the work and got the revolver for free.
It needs some better grips but the rest is way too nice for most Taurus guns. Blueing is nice and rich, Trigger is double action only and smoothed out to around 10# all the way through the pull without any stacking, Trigger face and internals are all smoothed and polished, grip frame has some wierd finger groove that actually fits my hand well, Barrel has had a very non-taurus comp job done with the last inch. Cylinder locks up nice and tight with a dual ball detent set in the top of the crane. Timing is perfect with no carry up issues.

This thing just screams rugged, reliable packin' pistol on the cheap. I can't wait to get it to the range and see what it will do. (Other than being VERY LOUD with those big ports. Some days I just love pawnshops. (I also found a Ruger Old Model (71) Blackhawk today for $250 so it's now in LayAway until payday)
I'll report on the range session when it happens.
PS. If anyone knows who did the work on this gun, I'd love to find out.

That is just cool. You are right to say that would make a nice packing gun as well as nightstand. Good luck and good find.

I'm not sure it's the best choice for a nightstand gun because of those massive ports. Talk about frying your night vision after the first round. In reality, I had my night vision fried many a time by both AK and M-16 rifles with "flash hiders" in Iraq so I don't know that there is really a way to eliminate that problem.

reducing flash

good ammo and longer barrels :p , i do some night practice and you can train your eyes to the idea a bit and learn how to blink at just the right second, beside that i know not, i have doen great with some night sights in the dark so if its possible for me it should be easy for most. good luck, if you have a 2i inch 357 you really want low flash powder

Damn nice! I'd almost feel bad about getting that for only $200. But I'd hardly complain about it! At least it's hopefully getting a good home where it'll be taken care of, instead of purchased by some slob who just throws it in a drawer not knowing that there's anything special about it.
