I got it today for a good price. It had an idiot scratch, but I plan to use it and not too worried about it. I paid $900 and there was another for $1,695, and it looked like it had been rode hard and put up wet (also had an idiot scratch.) Did I miss something? Is there a special edition I don't know about. It looked like the exact same model. Also, this is my first Colt, are they always this tight? Thank you for your input.

Also, this is my first Colt, are they always this tight?
Not always, my Delta was far tighter than my Mark IV, both bought in the eighties. My Delta has remained one of the finest if not THE finest built weapon I own. All these years and it remains flawless. It would be the last of my weapons to go.

Ha, didn't even think of that. Only took one to send to a fellow 1911 enthusiast, so sorry about the quality of the pic.

The last four Colts I have bought have all been very tight, especially with the barrel to slide and slide to frame fit.

Eh, slide to frame is a little loose, but the barrel to slide is very tight. My RIA has a tighter slide to frame than this one.

Slide to frame fit for my 23 year old Delta is reminiscent of the pics we all saw of the old Dan Wessons, that is it doesn't even look like it could function reliably with the tolerances so close. Actually my Mark IV looks the same. But the Delta also has that barrel to slide fit, whereas the Mark IV has it now because I've done work on it. Neither of them has ever malfunctioned.
