I just picked up my first "pocket pistol" a Sig P238 I love it. it is so slim and small and the quality is no contest to the LCP the I love the mini 1911 look.
Get the recall sorted out of course (and add some better looking grips), but I imagine your sig will prove a great little pistol. I love my mustang and it is of much higher quality than my lcp and has much more useable sights in stock form and can (could?) be upgraded to Novaks.
Let us know how it preforms. Part of me wants to get a sig p238 (with night sights) simply because I like my mustang so much but the prices are going out of sight on them. Another part of me says, for that kind of money and for similar weight and size why not get the power increase of a PM9?
I have a 238 on order. I noticed the recall asked that you send the magazine and the original plastic box back with the gun. I'm hoping that means they are returning 2 magazines with the repaired gun, and shipping two with all the new ones. There seemed to be some issue with the mags not locking in the gun. I haven't heard much lately. The recall is over the safety.
By the way, mags from the Colt Mustang will fit the new Sig.
You'r going to love your new little Sig P238. It's one of the softest shooting pocket pistols you'll ever find and you will really be surprised with it's accuracy, comfort and fun in just shooting. My wife isn't a shooter and would only shoot the little Walther P22 until I talked her into trying the new little P238 (no easy task believe you me) and.... Well.....believe it or not she surprised herself and shot it very well once she saw it didn't kick hardly at all.....so now it's "her" gun along with the P22 of course.
I don't shoot my Colt Gov 380, Mustang or Pony very ovten (they are fantastic as well) but because parts are hard to come by they reside in the safe mostly. However, the magazines of both the Mustang and Pony fit and function in the Sig perfectly.
Note: Don't sweat the recall if your pistol falls into the bunch with the defective safeties....just pack it up and send it back and maybe we'll both get a bonus magazine out of the deal + you can bet our guns will perform as perfectly as before we sent them in (mine couldn't do any better than it does already).
Regards,
JimK
