My question is. Does anymore know where I might find a wider OD green colored leather sling. I want to stay with leather for this rifle, and I've seen the sling I want before but I can't find anyhting even close to it now. The sling I want is pretty much the same design as whats on the rifle now except it its about 2" wide and Green with blacked out metal parts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I dunno, but how in the heck did you do that camo job? It is outstanding - really it's elegant/beautiful in its own way. And what base, rings & scope ya got there? And other specs on the rifle? Thanks.

GunGoBoom,

I've had a lot of people want me to make a guide for that camo, that here in the Marines we refer to as Bouflage.

I guess I should get off my rump and finally put it together. I could explain it with just words here, but it's late and pics will make it much easier to duplicate. If I haven't done it by the weekend come to this thread and flame me.

The rifle is a Savage 10FP-LE2B

The rings I don't like and will hopefully be replaced soon with some leupold units. The ones on it came with the rifle.

The scope is a leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x40mm PR

Sling and Camo

Try a Turner OD Green sling. It should look great with the camo job (which also looks great I might add)

Let me guess.

Base color=Green

Wrap in Cheese cloth (or something with that pattern) spray on additional colors to taste/surroundings

Let dry

Unwrap?

Close?

Close,
The base color is tan. I always like to start with the lightest color first. The pattern was applied with a mesh laundry bag. The trick to get it right is to go over the entire rifle with each color several times to prevent from having one color "on top" of all the others.

forgot.

the base is made by Savage for that rifle.

Actually those look like Farrell bases, savage sells them as a factory acessory but they do not make them.

and for those who don't know Ken Farrell bases are some of if not the best available for a savage.
