I pick this Pietta .44 1851 Navy up at a pawn shop last year. I was contemplating cutting the barrel off when looking through a DGW flyer that they had some Pietta 1851 Navy barrels in 5" length complete with loading lever. I fired off an order on Monday and received the barrel today.

Taking time to snap a picture.

Remove the wedge key screw and wedge.

Replace with the new barrel assembly and 2 minutes later I had an Pietta 1851 Sheriff's model.

Works slick,

Well, be sure to take it out and SHOOT IT(!) then post a range report. You might as well get another wedge and wedge screw so you can just pop the barrels on & off quicker.

carny these barrels were advertised in the "Spring spectacular" flyer. I ordered via the toll free 1-800-238-6785

ss2279 1851 5"/w loading leverl .44
ss2280 1860 sheriff's 5 1/2" .44 w/lever
ss2281 1860 snub nose .44 1860 wo/lever 3" bbl.
ss2283 1858 .44 5 1/2" bbl
ss2286 confederate barrel .36 7 1/2"

All pietta mfg.

Those are the cat numbers and descriptions.

I hope that helps.

How do I get one of those flyers? I typed in both it and the numbers you gave in the website and came up with nothing. As far as I am concerned the DWG website is a pretty poor one, which is probably why I never end up buying anything from them. Have bought from Cabelas, The Possibles Shop, Graf & Son and Midway but never DGW. Either I couldn't find what I was looking for, it was priced way higher or they were out of stock. Anyway I had bought a .44 1851 barrel to cut down to about 2 1\2 - 3 inches to make a hide out gun, however if I could get one that was already the length I wanted cheap enough I would do that and sell the other complete 7 1\2" barrel assembly to pay for it.

Gaucho, did you try calling the 800 number? Thats what I did. I've never had any problem with DGW. I prefer going to them first because of their fast response. I ordered my barrel on Monday and finished the barrel change on Thursday.

I get a box of DGW specials flyers everytime I order something from them. I think they use them for packing filler.

3-Barrel 1851 Navy Revolvers

Back in the early days of playing "can you top this" the distributors were offering all kind of "special" revolvers. The 18" 3rd Model Dragoon with shoulder stock and holster made by ASM is one example. Another is the 1851
Navy in proper .36cal. was offered by EMF with three barrels, 12", 7 1/2", and 5". All barrels were numbered the same and matched the frame. If anyone has one of these sets for sale I want it. I believe these would have been made also by ASM.

Pietta also sold an 1851 Navy that came with two barrels, 7 1/2" & 5". We have one of these sets. Neither barrel has a serial number, only the frame is numbered.
