A friend purchased this Pietta 1851 a couple of years ago, and sold it to me a few days ago. There is a "2021" stamped on the bottom of the barrel under the rammer. Is Pietta now stamping their guns with the production/ shipping year? Proof marks on the right side of the frame shown for comparison/confirmation.

I cannot confidently tell you what the 2021 means. However, I purchased my Pietta 1851 Navy from Dixie Gun Works in May of 2021. It has markings identical to those on your 1851. Perhaps, just perhaps, the 2021 does indicate the year of production.

This one was imported by EMF, so maybe!

Yeah it's the build date. Uberti has been stamping the date inside the frame since at least 2013 but it wasn't incorporated into the date code until sometime in 2019.

I don't know when Pietta started doing it. My newest one was made in 2015. It's not dated.
