Just curious, for those with subcompacts too small for all your digits, do you prefer pinky extensions or are you good with pinky wrapped under grip. For me, I don’t care for the extensions and think they still add length to grip that may make grip more noticeable especially when bending over. Plus I don’t mind the pinky dangling.

Depends on the pistol and the extension. Some of the extensions have sharp edges, and some leave too much of a gap between the extension and the bottom of the grip, meaning that your skin can get pinched in there when the gun jumps under recoil.

I've had this problem most often with various extensions for the Glock 26. With that pistol, I prefer to go without extensions.

I find the concealability of a sub-compact to be related mostly to width and weight... the little extra length of the pinky extension usually does not impeade its concealability but does greatly increase the grip I can get on a small gun with my large hands and signifigantly improves my accuracy and speed of follow-up shots. I like most pinky extensions on my sub-compacts.

My LCP, P32AT, DB9 and CM9 all have pinky extensions on their magazines. The pinky extension on my XDS is much bigger and on a bigger gun so I prefer a flush magazine with the XDS most of the time.

Depends on the extension. I like the Mag Pull 12 Rd magazines in my Glock 26. I get the extension +2 rounds.

I also use the my Bodyguard 380 mags. Without it I only get a 1 1/2 finger grip. With it I get 2 fingers and wrap my pinky under.

If you're using an extension that make your gun more noticeable it's too big.

I like to grip pretty hard, because I like to shoot pretty quickly- especially in presentation from the holster. I have found that the more contact I have on the gun, the better this works. For me, the extensions are pretty much a must to make this happen on guns like the G26, G43, and shield 9.

On my G26, I went with a Pearce regular extension and it was not comfortable. They make an XL version (all of 1/4" longer) that made it more comfortable to grip

I agree wholeheartedly. To each their own, but I’ve never understood buying a small subcompact for the purpose of deep/easy concealment, and then adding an extension to the grip, i.e., the hardest part to conceal. On the other hand, having the extension on a back-up magazine make perfect sense, if it adds another round because it’s not the primary object of concealment.

Because, as in the Pearce extension, it is angled. So if you carry your gun with a forward cant, it is easier to conceal than a gun with a similar length full size grip

I do not like to increase the size of any gun in any way that I'm trying to conceal. I also have been pinky dangling for years, so there is no real grip pressure being applied to a small gun with my pinky anyway.

It's why I got rid of my J frame. I couldn't find a grip big enough for me that didn't also extend the grip. So too small of a grip lead to me not caring for the gun.

I pinky dangled my Shield for a long time but recently added an extension to the 7 round mag. It only adds length to the front of the grip so I find that it still conceals better than the 8 round magazine, and it's more controllable for me than it was with the 7 round mag with the flat base. It's a pretty minor compromise in concealment so at least for the time being I find the extra grip worth it, and I still stick my 8 rounder in my pocket as a backup.

LC9. First magazine has the extended magazine base from Ruger. Follow-up magazines, if/when needed, are what comes with the gun as purchased. Summer carry in the pocket of cargo shorts still doesn't print with the longer magazine:

I much prefer the +2 Pearce extension on my G26 that allows me a full grip, versus only two fingers. The way I carry it doesn't affect concealability at all.

I dont carry anything any smaller than that but I occasionally get to shoot other folks ultra small guns and for those it doesn't matter because generally even with the extensions I can still only get 2 fingers on them.

But I certainly prefer a full grip.

Yep, I like the extension on my LCP2 to keep my ring finger securely in place.

Absolutely! The two 10 round mags that came with my Sig P365 are going in the box with all the other gun stuff I own but don't use. I've got four 12 round mags. I plan on shooting this pistol in my clubs defensive pistol matches.

G26 with the standard 10 round magazine, my little finger goes under the grip/magazine.

Pinky extensions. Personally I hate ‘em, I hate ‘em, I hate ‘em!

I change them out or grind them off (except for historic designs for range guns with metal pinky extensions like the older Berettas). But I still hate ‘em!

If the grip takes 2 fingers only and I can curl the third under the mag well, I am ok, no extension.
If the grip takes 2.5 fingers then I like the extension to get the third finger on it all the way.
So it depends on the length of the grip.
