I love the 45acp--own 2 1911's and cast and roll my own. as i can shoot on the cheap, i decided on buying a thompson m1 semi--heavy but very cool and fun as heck.

in searching the net i came across ar45's. with several expensive options-ie -bazooka bro., cnc etc. and from reviews--they all seem touchy to tune.

in my travels, i also came across the masterpiece arms defender-a mac look a like with muzzle brake, adj. stock etc. it looked pretty neat. pricing in the 6-700 range new--any good or is it a pos?:what: anybody have this unit.

Don't have the masterpiece, but I do have an H&K USC with grease gun conversion....

Totally fun and accurate and reliable -- 30 rounds of .45acp goodness :D

Neat HK, what all is involved in doing the mag conversion? That's my only qualm with the carbine, but if easily fixed, the HK may edge out the Beretta or PS90 on my wishlist...

Being that you already own 1911s, may I suggest the MechTech carbines?

Or a Marlin Camp .45? You can find used one's pretty readily and, like the MechTech conversions, they take your 1911 magazines, so you even have mag compatibility.

Did the US make a gazzilion M3 Grease gun magazines? Because it seems like every .45 carbine ever made can be converted to take the grease gun mags.

OMGoodness!!!
That MechTech looks awesome! And I am NOT and AR guy!!! I clicked on this thread hoping to talk about my 44mag Marlin 1894...But this is way cool!!!
The ONLY prob is the CA stuff. I read a lot on their page, but with how things go in CA, you just never know...But I wonder if you kept your 45 separate from the barrel until you got to the range if you'd have any trouble...hmmm.
