Does anyone use the pistol holders that mount on your safe door? I have seen the ones that are coated metal that hold 8 or 16 pistols, I think they go for $60 and $90. Then I have seen the ones that are nylon holsters that velcro to your safe door. Do those ones increase any chance of rust, is the velco strong enough to hold up heavy revolvers? I need to make some room in the safe, plus it would make the handguns easier to get to.

Can't speak to the ones available commercially, made my own. Door storage is a great way to add room. Never had any issues with rust...golden rod takes care of that. Used strip magnets covered with fabric for extra barrels.

I have the Rack'em on my safe.

They only problem is getting the spacing of the racks setup so they don't contact the safe interior.

I hang stuff on the door of my smaller safe too. It just seems like a shame to waste the real estate.

I tried the Velcro holsters. They work and don't rust stuff up if the safe is dry, but.... typically the interior material on the door is only secured at the sides and top, so when you hang a larger pistol in the holster, it sags pretty bad. Now I use those to hang thigs inside between the shelves, but not on the door.

Then I tried the racks, and didn't like the way things flopped and rattled around, (I bought the cheapo model, and that could be the problem...) they also stuck out a good ways, which caused interference problems with the shelving inside.

Then I found this deal from Liberty Safe...

It screws to the metal in the safe door through the fire wall at the top edge, which suspends a rod keeping the whole deal from sagging in the middle, and it velcro's to the door at the bottom to keep it from swinging around. It seems to be holding up well. It was only $89 too, which I did't think was bad... It comes in a handful of different sizes and configurations too, and I got real fast delivery time.

Rack'em

I also use the Rack'em on my safe door.I have the 16 Gun Style. It was easy to install and works great. The Handgun Racks are moveable so you can avoid the shelves or whatever may be in your safe.It really "cleaned" up my safe and gave me lots of extra room.
