A little help with this issue, and sorry if there's a thread on it but I couldn't find one. I just purchased a Liberty Revolution 12, and when it was delivered noticed when opening and closing the door, if done a little quickly, there's a "clang" noise inside the door. I pointed this out to the delivery guys and they said that's normal. On the way back to work I stopped at the shop to see (hear) this for myself, and sure enough, 2 others 12s as well as several 18s and 24s did the same thing. There was one other Revolution 12 that did not make this noise if you shook the door. Question: Is this normal? What exactly is making this metal-on-metal clanging noise? Can you stop it? And why did one safe not make that noise? I'm just trying to figure out if there's some issue with this safe or these safes before I bolt the thing to the floor. Thanks for any info.

Am I to infer from your reply that when looks inside the door panel you think he will find something he will wish he didn't know about? I am making the assumption that you know exactly what is in there, given your experience in the safe industry, but that you want him to have a learning experience for himself?

I think my wife had the same sort of experience the first time she saw me naked :)

I took it to mean he knows what's in there and that if it's assembled properly, that noise it normal and to be expected. It was most noticeable when moving the safe, but now that it's bolted down, only if you make a point to look/listen for it do you notice it.

But without taking off the inner door panel or lining, I'd still like to know what makes that noise.

Most people are very unimpressed with what they see inside of a modern safe. Everybody sees the antique vault doors in the movies, and think that their safes have all of the gearing and support. The reality is that is't mostly sheet metal fit together loosely enough to allow it to slide around.

That's what's making the noise.

That's not very reassuring.

This particular safe has "military style locking bars" rather than bolts, but certainly seems secure enough. I don't recall hearing this particular noise with any locking bolt safe I've examined. What about the military locking bars type mechanism makes that noise?

Again, thanks for the input.

I recently saw a safe in a store locally that had the door cover off. The mechanism was less than impressive for sure.
