Changed design based on recommendations.

Went with 8" and 10" static round targets and hangers that slides on top of a 2x4. I'll build a simple no frills 15' "saw horse" style base and just line up the plates in a row along the "saw horse" -- I'll arrange at multiple heights to spice it up a little. Figure I'll screw in the 2x4 at the top of the saw horse and on the bottom and that will be plenty of holding power. The hangers have a shock absorber spring as well so i guess that'll take some of the blunt force out of it...

I ordered from Evan at ShootSteel.com. Super friendly guy and competitive shooter with a sweet design on the hanger.

we'll be shooting in front of a natural land berm... The setup above will make my wife feel safer and that always means a better time..haha

With a plate suspended from a rope by only one hole. I would be concerned with the angle the bullet pieces might fly off at.

I use a target from GT Targets that works very well. The plate stays square with the shooter and is angled to throw all the splatter down. I made my own bottom piece.

There are a lot of good designs out there.

One hole and they will spin. Rope will be fragged and cut into almost instantly.

The gray color in this photo is caused by lead bits, a rope would never last.

The photo is of the back side of a plate rack

The 1 hole was kinda odd to me since the other brands I looked at had multiple hole mounting options. the website with the 1 hole plates said hang from a farmers hook, rope, or etc... regardless I'll go with a more tried and true popular design

I'm a wood guy with no metal tools or knowledge..I'll order some plates like the one in Walkalong's pic and attach them and the 2x4 to some wooden contraption.

thanks for the input!

You can get chain cut at the local big box hardware store. Bolt one end to the plate put a S hook on the other end for easy hanging.
