This just on Fox news. What would this lady have done if she was unarmed?

GIG HARBOR, Wash. — Two pit bull terriers broke into a house through a pet door Tuesday and attacked a woman in her bed, mauling her badly, a Pierce County sheriff's spokesman said.

The woman was able to grab a gun and try to shoot the dogs, then break away from the attack and lock herself in her car, where she called 911, sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The woman, who was not immediately identified, was taken to a hospital in Tacoma, where she was listed in serious condition.

Officers planned to talk to the dogs' owner.

The pit bulls also killed a neighbor's Jack Russell terrier, which entered the house during the attack, Troyer said.

"The thought is that the Jack Russell heard noise in the neighbor's house, came in and was attacked by the dogs," Troyer said.

Firefighters responded first, locking the dogs in the house, treating the woman and calling for an ambulance.

Officers "had to pepper spray and fight the dogs until they were detained. We almost had to shoot them on site," Troyer said.

The dogs were taken to a Humane Society and will probably be destroyed, he said.

Nah, can't be the pit bulls fault!!

Wait for all the pit bull apologists on this one.

They are just poor misunderstood animals, why it is all about nurturing don't you know.

My present problem is a couple of free roaming malamutes that have formed a pack with about 4 other dogs. I am just waiting for a chance to nurture them with a high speed 10mm injection.

Most people can't identify a pit bull by sight, can you?

This includes cops, and reporters. And with "pit bulls" being the evil dog of the decade (like rotweillers, dobermans and german shepherds before them), it's no surprise that every news story you read about a dog attack involves a "pit bull".

In the news, Pit Bulls are the "assault weapon" of the dog world.

As a gun owner, have you not yet learned to not believe everything you read in the news?

True about Pit Bulls being the "assault weapons" of the dog world, but even if they weren't pit bulls you have to admit - it's an extremely odd story where two dogs come though a doggie door and attack a woman in her bedroom.

Around here - there would have been no "almost had to shoot the dogs" they would have been well ventilated.

Yeah, the Tulsa TV news once had a story about a woman who had been attacked and bitten several times by a pit bull. The story was "in the can" and then they got notified that the dog had been captured. They showed a picture and never said one word about it. Even though the dog was clearly short, long, and had a curly, solid black coat. Decent looking Scottish Terrier. But it bit somebody therefore it is a "pit bull" by definition!

Well not quite assault weapons have no free will of thier own and are an imaginary term. Yet i know dog care people who say unless owners have lots of time and work very hard from the point of puppy hood on they naturally turn aggressive. The correct term is Assault Dogs he he.

Most people CAN identify pit bulls now that they are on the 6 o'clock news, complete with film almost every week for one savage reason or another. If people had more liability for their dogs unwarranted attacks (negligent assault)
with heavier penalties, less people would be prone to owning them. In my neighborhood, any pit bull roaming off leash is usually fould laying in state at the subdivision entrance. The sad part is the good citizen that disposed of the danger to our children can get more jail time than the owner of the dog that mangles a child. Love em if you want, but if one is on my property unleashed, the SKS comes out. Flame away.

Officers planned to talk to the dogs' owner.
Officers "had to pepper spray and fight the dogs until they were detained. We almost had to shoot them on site," Troyer said.
I find these statements totally idiotic.

Who the hell's in charge over there? I would have "detained" the dogs enough to get a good killing shot on them.
