Anyone familiar with what handgun(s) the Chinese army uses these days? Their new rifle is all the rage, but never hearabout pistols.

They somewhat recently began widespread issue of their new 5.8xsomething caliber semi auto. Kind of cool but given what we know about the limitations of small caliber “high velocity” rounds out of a pistol I would say it signifies they may be more concerned with looking state of the art or “modern” than with actually having the best optimization of utility.
I’m much more interested in their 9mm police revolver. From what I read online about it years and years ago the cartridge is about the same as the weaker .38S&W target loads and is basically designed to be just about the weakest it can be while still being lethal so as to pose the lowest threat to the authorities in the event the weapon or ammo falls into the hands of anyone outside the government.
