Several years ago I bought some firearms from a widow who's husband had been in the plating business. The one item I bought was a nickel plated VIS, the frame and slide are nickel plated and the trigger hammer and safety are gold plated. The finish looks to be in good shape.
I am thinking of having the plating stripped and just doing a dip blue.
What is the best method to strip the finish, chemical stripper or electrical?
The next question is it worth it?

I would first try advertising on various forums if some body wants to swap for a blued one of the same value. Might be an easier route to take. I have seen others that have traded before. I wanted a Stevens 24 with a magnum barrel and I had a .22 LR. I swapped a guy for a different barrel both other barrels were 20 GA.

Not bad looking at all! Still think someone out there would trade for a blued version. I would think stripping the plating and rebluing it would exceed the value though. If I had one to trade you would already have had a PM. I am all about shiny and SS when I have that option LOL.
