I wasn't 100% sure they were going to let me compete with my XP-100.
They had a safety concern, and then there was the whole, can he hit anything concern, even though it was not expressly said.
I think the pistol/15" barrel/55 grain bullet for longer distances, kind of had them wondering.
That being said, they were extremely welcoming.
Dan called ahead, since they had met him at the last match a couple of months previous (he used a rifle), and asked on my behalf.
Main reason he called, is we were not sure they would let me use a 20 caliber, because of possible damage to steel.
That was not even a issue. I think their main concern was safety. They had real good RO's.
Now it is not a issue anymore-that's the good thing!
All the guys from Gillette were like...Ernie is shooting a specialty pistol at distance...No Surprise There
Since there was no more than 10 shots per stage, it made it easy.
I have a 8 round wrist ammo holder, then my little 2-round holder, just in front of my action.
I have rifles, that could have been very competitive. I can shoot a rifle just fine, but I don't use them unless I have to.
I like specialty pistols, because that is what I like.
